Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 pm ET at Madison Square Garden in NY, NY.
The betting odds are a little late getting out for this game, but BetOnline lists Creighton as a 15.5 points betting favorite. Is this the blowout that we expect as Creighton features the Big East Player Of the Year in Doug McDermott?
Big East Player Of the Year
McDermott appeared on this week’s cover of Sports Illustrated and that’s an honor reserved for the elite athletes. He’s coming off of a monumental game in which he became the 8th player in Division 1 history to score 3,000 points. Not only that, McDermott scored a career high 45 points in a 15 point win over Providence, shooting 17 for 25 from the field and 5 for 7 from 3-point range. Doug McDermott is also a terrific rebounder. He’s averaging nearly 10 rebounds per game in his last 3 games and couldn’t come into this tournament on a higher note.
Look for a huge game out of McDermott as he’s facing a DePaul team that upset Georgetown in the 1st round of the Big East Tournament to get to this game.
Creighton has a major psychological edge coming into this tournament as they’ve swept the season series over the top contender in Villanova. They’ve beaten the Wildcats by 20 plus points in each of the 2 meetings. This has enabled them to grab the number 1 seeding.

After losing 12 out of their last 13 games, the DePaul Blue Demons pulled off a huge upset with a 60-56 victory over Georgetown in the 1st round, but now they must face the beast.
The win over the Hoyas possibly knocked Georgetown out of the NCAA Tournament and DePaul has Big East Rookie Of the Year, Billy Garrett Jr. to thank. Although his outside shot was tough to come by, Garrett Jr. still managed 17 points 5 rebounds, and 3 assists to “quarterback” the Blue Demons into the 2nd round against Creighton. Forrest Robinson (3.9 ppg.) was also a major contributor as he hit back to back 3-pointers in the 2nd half to break the tie and DePaul never looked back.
Dealing with Doug McDermott seems like the impossible task and the Blue Demons will display many different looks defensively and will need to double and possibly triple team this 4-year superstar.
With Clevleand Melvin out for the season, Young is the go to guy on this squad. He’s averaging 16.1 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.7 steals on the season. Young has faced Creighton two times before this season and has averaged 20 points in those two games. He’ll need a huge game here for the Blue Demons to find magic in a bottle twice. The task seems unvenviable, but as DePaul proved against Georgetown; anything is possible.
DePaul had their big game of the season in the 1st round of this tournament, but now they’re facing the #1 ranked team in this tournament with the Big-East Player of the Year. Creighton should have no problem in taking care of business against an overmatched Blue Demons team.Pick- Creighton -15.5 at Bet 365
