Year after year, the Gonzaga Bulldogs have a way of swiftly moving through their regular season schedule and dominating. Tonight, the Pepperdine Waves have the unenviable task of facing the Bulldogs and it won't be pretty.

Total Mismatch

2017 could be the year that Gonzaga takes it a step further in the NCAA Tournament as this school has the stigma attached to winning during the regular season and not being able to "seal the deal" during March Madness.

In their matchup tonight against the Waves, they face a Pepperdine team which has lost 7 straight games and Pepperdine's leading scorer, Lamond Murray Jr., has been struggling a bit in his last few games.

Murray Jr. is a near 20 point per game scorer, but lately, the shots haven't been falling as he's averaging 11.3 points per game in his last 3 games. In these games, he's shooting just 14 of 36 from the field. Look for Murray Jr. to have a bounce back effort against Gonzaga. He's a 6 foot 5 guard that can play defense and rebound well for his size. He's coming off of an 11 rebound performance in a 71-70 loss to Montana. Along with Chris Reyes (14.7 points, 8.1 rebounds), these two seniors will need to carry the Waves on their backs as Pepperdine is coming into this game short-handed.

Where Gonzaga is concerned, they've had a legitimate schedule thus far, defeating 2 top 25 squads in Iowa State and Arizona. The "Zags" possess 7 foot 1, 300-pound center Przemek Karnowski and just his presence alone on the inside will make things difficult for Pepperdine. Karnowski doesn't put up huge numbers (11.9 points, 6.3 rebounds), but he's can play up to the competition as he did when he delivered 18 points on 9 of 13 shooting in the win over Arizona.

Nigel Williams-Goss

Washington's loss is Gonzaga's gain as the junior transfer has been nothing but spectacular as a member of the Bulldogs. This is a player that can basically do it all. He play's outstanding defense, can shoot with efficiency, is almost automatic from the charity stripe, can mind the glass, and, get's other players involved with his ability to find the open man. In baseball, they call it a "5-tool player". I'm equating Nigel Williams-Goss with that label in college hoops as he's the primary reason why Gonzaga is undefeated.

The bottom line is that short-handed or not, Gonzaga is the far superior squad and this will be a blowout.
