Another interesting matchup pits the Sun Belt Conference's Appalachian State Mountaineers against the Arkansas State Red Wolves. Despite Arkansas State having the far superior season, the Red Wolves are a modest 5 point favorite and the question is are the Red Wolves good value in tonight's matchup?

Arkansas-Little Rock Trojans vs Coastal Carolina Chanticleers

Home court advantage play's a major role in the Sun Belt Conference, but Appalachian State hasn't given their fans or the bettors much to cheer about as they're 3-5-2 ATS while Arkansas State has been a team to back at 8-3 ATS. The Mountaineers have faced some stiff competition, but a loss is a loss as was quite clear in their last game, a 97-64 loss to the N.C. State Wolfpack. Appalachian State has lost 4 out of their last 5 games and is in jeopardy of reaching double-digit losses after tonight.

Not As Good As Their Record Indicates?

Arkansas State has hit the skids recently as they've lost 3 out of their last 5 games and some of the wins on their schedule are questionable. That said, a team can only win against the teams that are listed on their schedule and the Red Wolves have done a fine job of navigating their way through their schedule and tonight's matchup appears to be more of the same.

Bounce-Back Effort From Carter?

To win this game, this is what the Red Wolves need from their leading scorer. Senior guard Devin Carter has been a reliable source of offense for Arkansas State, but he's coming off of a rare poor performance against Coast Carolina as Arkansas State was upset in this game, 80-65. Carter shot just 3 of 14 from the field and finished the game with 7 points, This is a game that Arkansas State would like to forget and the best way to do so is with a win tonight.

For Appalachian State, they must get their offense going as they've been unable to crack the 70 point mark. 6 foot 5 guard Ronshad Shabazz is the clear cut go-to guy as he's the only player on the Mountaineers roster to average double digits in scoring.

Shabazz isn't the most efficient shooter, shooting slightly under 40% from the field, but Appalachian State is a team that need's a reliable go-to guy and Shabazz fits the bill with his 15.4 points per game. Justin like Devin Carter, Shabazz hasn't provided his best effort lately and this game could be a question of which star bounces back from recent poor play?

Simply stated, both teams aren't anything to get excited about, but Arkansas State is the better basketball team and along with that they've been "betting-friendly".
