Once again we are recommending two favorites with our college basketball picks. Which sides seem to hold the most appealing value for Wednesday night?

Boston College Eagles vs. Virginia Cavaliers

The Cavaliers are one of the hottest teams in the country right now, having won five games in a row straight up. Tonight they're favored by 13.5 to 14 points at the sportsbooks for this home battle with Boston College.

Virginia has beaten Florida State (78-66), UNC (76-61) and Virginia Tech (65-45) at home and Notre Dame (68-53) and Pittsburgh (48-45) on the road. It's been the perfect response after that tough 65-69 loss at Duke back in the middle of January.

The Cavaliers have been extremely profitable to back with your sports picks recently, as they've cashed in a ridiculous nine consecutive games to push their overall record to 12-6 ATS for the year. Meanwhile, the Eagles check in at 6-15 SU and 6-13 ATS.

Conference play has been rough for Boston College. They've won only two of eight contests and both victories came over Virginia Tech. Coming in they have a 5-7 ATS record in 12 matchups away from home.

On the other side you've got a red-hot Cavaliers team that's a solid 5-3 against the spread at home so far. Virginia has a lot of depth and has been terrific defensively (55.5 PPG allowed on 37.8 percent shooting) all season long.

This sure is a lot of points to be laying on the college basketball odds board, but the gulf in talent between these teams is humungous and the Cavaliers have been incredibly tough to handle at home.

So, with the first of our recommended college basketball picks, we like Virginia as heavy chalk.

NCAA Basketball Pick: Virginia Cavaliers -13.5

Tennessee Volunteers vs. Vanderbilt Commodores

Tennessee pride is on the line when the Commodores and Volunteers square off in Nashville this evening. Current odds show the Volunteers are giving away 4.5 points to the home team.

Consecutive wins over Mississippi (86-70) and Alabama (76-59) have Tennessee at 5-3 in the SEC. Their three defeats came against Florida, Kentucky and Texas A&M.

The Volunteers have been making you a lot of money if you've been consistently taking them as one of your plays. They've covered in five of their last six matchups, making their overall record 12-7 ATS for the season.

Big men Jarnell Stokes (14.0 PPG and 10.2 RPG) and Jeronne Maymon (11.1 PPG and 8.0 RPG) have been a load inside, while Jordan McRae (19.2 points per game) has been doing most of the dirty work out on the perimeter.

Look for all three to have a hand in a good showing against the Commodores, who come in having won three consecutive games themselves. Vanderbilt has taken care of Texas A&M (66-55), Georgia (59-54) and Mississippi State (55-49) to get them back in the conversation in the conference race.

All in all though, the Volunteers should be able to sneak past with the win tonight due to their superior overall talent. The sheer size and strength of Stoke and Maymon will likely set the tone for Tennessee, as they aim for their fourth consecutive triumph over the Commodores.

Tonight we're taking another favorite and siding with the Volunteers to get it done in this rivalry encounter.
