The Gonzaga Bulldogs have been flat out dominant in the NCAA regular season thus far. While we've been intelligently tailing the Bulldogs for quite some time, they're an enormous 28 point betting favorite as they host the Portland Pilots. Can Gonzaga cover a number like this as Portland is far from a pushover?

   Portland Pilots vs Gonzaga Bulldogs

Total Domination

While the West Coast Conference isn't one of the tougher conferences in the nation, it possesses two AP Top 25 teams in the form of St. Mary's and Gonzaga. It's also clear that although a very talented basketball squad, the Gaels are just not at the level of the Bulldogs. In fact, almost every team in the country isn't at the level of the Bulldogs.

This is a team that's at a +22.2 point ration in regards to points for as opposed to points against. If they played in most of the other elite conferences, Gonzaga would have a higher ranking. The NCAA Tournament will decide just how good that this team is, but where the interconfernce play is concerned, the Bulldogs have established themselves as top "Dog".

"Owning" Santa Clara

In a matchup in which we recently covered and won, Gonzaga squared off against the Santa Clara Broncos. It became quite evident from the start that this would be a mismatch in favor of Gonzaga as they defeated Santa Clara 88-57 and covered the spread.

Surprisingly, the 3-point shot wasn't working well for Gonzaga, but their defense and ability to control the boards (42-23) took center stage. Gonzaga committed just 6 turnovers for the game and 7 foot 1, 300-pound center, Przemek Karnowski, got the job done in his limited amount of playing time due to the blowout. Karnowski registered 19 points on 6 of 7 shooting from the field and Nigel Williams-Goss confirmed that he is an all-purpose player as the transfer from Washington led the Bulldogs with 10 rebounds to go with his 11 points.

Gonzaga Has Been a Consistent Cover

The backups received a lot of playing time, therefore the numbers don't completely tell the story, but the combination of Williams- Goss, and Karnowksi have been the reason why Gonzaga is so successful. A matchup against the Portland Pilots, a team which has lost their last 3 games, including a 74-33 loss to St. Mary's (a team who Gonzaga owns) pretty much tells the story here. How long Gonzaga's starters play will decide the outcome of this game, but this is a team that I've been riding with success and I'm not about to let the 28 point spread scare me away.
