Back on the road

Missouri is set to play back-to-back true road games for the first time during the 2013-14 campaign, as it comes off a 70-68 victory over the Auburn Tigers as 1.5-point favorites last Saturday.

The Tigers established season highs with 20 offensive rebounds and attempting 41 free throws in that affair.

Over the last two-plus seasons, the program is 1-3 SUATS as road favorites of three or fewer points, with the UNDER cashing in all four opportunities.

Going in the wrong direction

Vanderbilt has dropped two consecutive games, including a 71-62 setback to the Kentucky Wildcats as nine-point home underdogs last Saturday, as it continues to deal with depth issues.

The Commodores have just seven scholarship players on the roster after Josh Henderson was lost for the season with a knee injury and Eric McClellan being dismissed from the team.

Talented backcourt

College basketball handicappers will be interested in backing the road favorite in this affair, considering Tigers guards Jabari Brown and Jordan Clarkson are combining to score 37.1 points a contest.

Both players have scored in double figures in all 15 games this season, while Missouri had eight players earn double-figure minutes last time out.

Defending the perimeter

The Commodores lead the SEC in three-point field goal percentage defense, but they’ll be vulnerable inside the paint, as the Tigers like to attack the rim and dominate the offensive glass.

Vanderbilt must stay out of foul trouble with a limited bench, but Missouri is 17th-best in the country in getting to the free throw line.

Prediction

I’m going to recommend that readers back the Tigers for their free college basketball pick, as the Commodores are 2-7 ATS in their last nine home games versus teams with a winning road record.
