Heavily favored Kansas Jayhawks and superstar Frank Mason III come into the Thomas & Mack Center to face the UNLV Rebels. The Rebels have already had experience with top 25 competition and failed miserably. Kansas is a huge favorite in this game and can they cover the enormous spread on the road is the question?

#3 Kansas Jayhawks vs. UNLV Rebels

The Real Deal

When we mention Kansas, we talk about a team that's battle-tested and has a legitimate chance at a NCAA Basketball Final 4 spot. In their first two games of the season, Kansas faced Indiana and Duke. While the Jayhawks lost to the Hoosiers 103-99, they defeated Duke 77-75 and Duke was #1 in the nation during that period of time. Kansas also has other major victories such as Pac 12 squads such as Stanford. With senior Frank Mason III leading the way, this team is in good hands.

Little Man, Big Numbers

Although they're not the same in size and one is a freshman and one is a senior, Frank Mason III, puts up a similar type of numbers as Markelle Fultz and his team actually wins. They don't only win, they dominate. At 5 foot 11, 190 pounds, Mason III is pulling in 4.6 rebounds per game to go along with 20.3 points, 5.6 assists, and 1.3 steals per game.

This is a guy that can pick pockets and shoot the lights out as he's averaging a miraculous 52.1% from 3-point territory. He has really stepped up his game in his senior season and Kansas will either "sink or swim" with him in the backcourt. UNLV will have a difficult time in dealing with Mason III and we should expect a big game out of the little man.

This is a Kansas squad that averages 88 points per game and shoots 52.4% from the field and over 40% from beyond the arc as a team. Those are big-time numbers and UNLV will be hard-pressed in matching them.

As for UNLV, senior Tyrell Green has been "on point" as of late with mass production as this is a player that can dominate the glass and drain the 3-ball. In his last 2 games, Green is averaging 20.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and is nearly perfect from 3-point land, converting on 8 of 11 attempts. Look for Kansas to win the game, but 21 points seem like a lot in UNLV's building.
