The Providence Friars, losers of four of their last five, traveling to a streaking Seton Hall team that has reeled off six wins over their last seven contests. Let's review the NCAA basketball odds.

Providence Friars (19-8 SU, 13-13 ATS)
February is not the best time to find yourself mired in a tailspin but that is exactly where the Friars are right now. They have dropped four of their last five games and have covered the NCAA basketball odds in only one of those five contests. In two of those ATS losses they have been favored but in their last outing Providence tipped off against No. 5 ranked powerhouse Xavier where they dropped an 85-74 decision and failed once again to cover the number for all those who included them in their NCAA basketball picks.

Providence stands at 7-7 in conference play and 19-8 overall with their postseason hopes dimming with every loss. The game against Xavier was pretty much a done deal after the first half when they trailed 52-37 en route to the 11 point loss. Junior guard Kevin Dunn led the Friars with 23 points and 11 rebounds while teammate Ben Bentil added 17 of his own. Providence shot just 33 percent from the floor while their opponents shot over 42 percent. Providence is now 4-4 straight up against top 25 teams.

Seton Hall Pirates (19-7 SU, 16-8 ATS)
Seton Hall is in third place in the Big East with a 9-5 conference mark and a 19-7 record overall. The Pirates have gotten white hot at the right time ripping off six victories in seven opportunities. They have covered the spread in five of those contests but that was not the case Sunday afternoon on the road against an inferior St. John's team that rallied furiously to cut the Pirates' 19 point lead all the way down to a one point advantage. But it was Isaiah Whitehead, who struggled mightily throughout the afternoon, that drew a foul with only five seconds remaining and netted two huge free three throws to give Seton Hall a 62-61 win but missed covering by a country mile as 11-point road chalk.

Sophomore forward Desi Rodriguez led the Pirates with a career high 24 points on 8-of-10 shooting while Isaiah Whitehead never found his groove ending the game with just 10 points including a woeful 1-of-12 from the field but hitting eight of 10 from the charity stripe. Seton Hall is averaging 73.7 points per game while allowing 66.5 PPG on the season.

Betting Analysis
In their earlier meeting this season Seton Hall traveled to Providence and dribbled out with an 81-72 victory as 5 ½ point road underdogs. This time the venue has changed and so have the odds. Seton Hall is 11-3 straight up and 8-4 ATS at home this season while Providence boasts an 8-4 straight up and ATS road record. In identifying which side is live we must almost disregard Seton Hall's last game to a certain degree. They got into foul trouble early and could very well have been overlooking the Red Storm with a view towards this Big East showdown tonight.

The money appears to be flowing on the underdog after the Pirates opened as 5  point home favorites as we see that the line has dropped to four in most of the major offshores. I believe that Seton Hall's poor showing in their Sunday matinee against St. John's has caused the number to plummet but don't think for a second Isaiah Whitehead will have two consecutive abysmal performances. The Pirates and Friars both average about 74 points per game but it is the Seton Hall defense that can turn it on when the going gets tough allowing just 66.5 PPG which ranks them 51st in the nation. The best line I see as of this writing is Seton Hall -3 ½ at which is a decent line on the better team with home court advantage.
