Our NCAAB handicapper has found a trio of late Saturday games with serious O/U wagering value. Read on as he cherry-picks the board and makes his totals picks.

Cornell vs. Princeton
In the second game in the Ivy League’s back-to-back Friday and Saturday schedule, the Princeton Tigers (19-5, 9-1) host the Cornell Big Red (9-16, 2-9) in hopes of keeping up with Yale who is currently 10-1 in the conference. The O/U total in this game can currently be found at 154 on the NCAA basketball odds.

These teams met two weeks ago, with Princeton clobbering Cornell, 85-56, in a game that went under the posted total of 152 by 11 points. Now, this game is on Princeton’s home floor where they average 85.6 points per game, which definitely is a reason why the total posted is higher even though the trend between these two teams is trending downward. Cornell only shot 36.2% in that game, while Princeton was hot from the floor in exceeding their 46.7% season average in shooting 50% from field goal range.

With Cornell looking to next season, I don’t expect the best defensive effort out of them in this game on the heels of last night’s 67-79 loss to Penn. However, with Princeton likely to have a big lead in this game, we are going to see both teams go deep into their bench similar to the first game. Princeton had 14 players log minutes in the first matchup while Cornell had 16 players log minutes. Those inexperienced players should suppress scoring enough to get this game under the listed total, so I’m taking under 154 at Heritage as one of my NCAA basketball picks.

Gonzaga vs. BYU
Gonzaga (22-7, 14-3) is at risk of missing the NCAAB tournament for the first time in well over a decade, and the BYU Cougars (22-8, 13-4) would love to put a nail in their coffin this season in Provo. Ok, Gonzaga still has a chance to secure a tournament bid in the West Coast Conference tournament, but a loss in this game would get them out of the top 2 seeds that get a bye in that tournament. The O/U total in this game has been posted at 154.5 at Pinnacle.

These teams played a close game in Spokane in January, with BYU winning 69-68. That combined score of 137 was well under the posted total of 162.5 for the game. BYU held Gonzaga to 36.8% shooting in that game as no other Bulldog player other than Kyle Wiltjer could find the bottom of the basket. Wiltjer had a good night in scoring 35 points, but the rest of the matchups were bad, bad, bad for the Bulldogs.

Personal story time. Just last year I was propositioned for a donation of $500,000 to Gonzaga’s basketball program just for the chance to pay for two season tickets each year. Just like the total in this game, I’m expecting the costs of those tickets to go down. This should be a hard fought game where BYU has a matchup advantage on defense. Take under 154.5 as another Saturday NCAAB Pick.

Boise State vs. San Diego State
The Boise State Broncos (18-10, 9-6) have been one of my favorite team to tail with the over, as they’ve compiled a 9-6 O/U record in conference play. Their up tempo style of play could be their undoing today against the San Diego State Aztecs (21-7, 14-1) though, as they are missing one of their most important players in forward, James Webb III. Webb was injured in Boise State’s win against UNLV on Tuesday night.

San Diego State has one of the best defenses in the country, which is why the O/U total can be found at 129.5 at Pinnacle. That total is the lowest total posted for any Boise State game this season. For their part though, the Aztecs have gone over the total in the last three games coming into this one.

Boise State has had no time to adjust for their big injury, so two things should happen: their tempo will remain the same, and their defense underneath the basket should suffer. Webb was not only the leading scorer, but the leading rebounder for the Broncos. The Broncos have offensive weapons to step up in place of Webb, but no rebounding standouts. I’m expecting the Aztecs to have plenty of second chances on offense, which should be enough to take this game over the low posted total of 129.5 points at Pinnacle and make that a winning Saturday NCAAB Pick.
