Free NCAA Basketball Picks - Auburn Tigers vs Boston College Eagles

Auburn Tigers player in action

Things don't look good for the Boston College Eagles tonight as they're coming off of a huge upset at the hands of the Hartford Hawks and must play an Auburn Tigers team. The bright lights of Madison Square Garden will be shining brightly on both teams and this is an opportunity for Auburn to showcase their talent.

Boston College Eagles (4-5) vs. Auburn Tigers (6-1)

The Boston College Eagles are coming off of a very demoralizing loss in which Jason Dunne of the 3-8 Hartford Hawks drilled a 3-pointer with 2 seconds to go and gave the Hawks the victory and put Boston College under .500 with very little momentum coming into this matchup against Auburn.

Let's not forget, Boston College has suffered back to back losses to Hartford and Harvard and this is not a good mindset to come into the Garden with and have to deal with an even greater challenge in the Auburn Tigers.

As for the Auburn, they've had one very poor outing in a loss to a top 25 Purdue Boilermakers team but have since recovered and have basically handled the rest of their schedule with ease. This game sets up nicely for the Tigers as they're catching Boston College at a very low point in B.C.'s season.

 Feed The Hot Player

While Auburn is a team with great depth, they lack a definitive go-to guy. That said, making frequent substitutions keeps their players fresh and it's led to their success. Look for Auburn to feature their two coveted freshmen in Mustapha Heron (15.4 points, 6.4 rebounds) and Danjel Purifoy (14.9 points, 4.9 rebounds, 3.1 assists). Both players have had a fantastic start to their respective collegiate careers as they're the top two scorers for Auburn and both players are capable of draining the 3-ball. Look for both players to play well against inferior competition as players seek to play at Madison Square Garden and don't see it as a pressure situation.

One Man Show

As for the Eagles, if they're to have any chance at being competitive in this game, leading scorer, Jerome Robinson must put forth a huge effort. Robinson is by far the best player on this squad, averaging 18.9 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game. The next highest scorer on the team is A.J. Turner at 9.2 points per game. Robinson is coming off of a dismal 4 point effort in the loss to Hartford and that show's the bettor just how important that he is to his team's success.

I look for Auburn to have an easy time for my college basketball pick as Boston College comes into this game still reeling from their recent losses.
