N. Carolina (-3) vs. Florida St. 7:00 ET ESPN
The ACC is widely considered to be the best league in America. Though their Top 8 teams may be as good as any league in the country, there is clear weakness in the bottom half of the conference. Tonight, a pair of upper-echelon ACC teams meets in a battle for ACC supremacy. Do not be surprised if one of the Florida teams (these Seminoles or the Miami, FL Hurricanes) challenges the Tobacco Road teams (Duke and N. Carolina) for league supremacy. That’s assuming that any of those 4 is better than Virginia or Louisville, a pair of teams who are currently superior to all 4 of those other teams. Tonight, N. Carolina travels to Tallahassee for one of their sternest road challenges of the year. These teams met just once last season with the Tar Heels as 15 point favorite, escaping with a (78-74) victory in Chapel Hill.

North Carolina
On Saturday, N. Carolina won their 2nd ACC game of the season with an 86-78 victory over GA Tech. But combined with their (80-69) earlier win over Clemson, it left the Tar Heels an undistinguished 0-2 ATS in league play for the season. We have yet to see our best Tar Heel team, as they have dealt with injury issues the entire season. They were forced to play the first 6 games without PG Paige. More recently, their best interior force Kennedy Meeks has been missing action with a knee injury. His loss will truly be felt tonight. In his stead, N. Carolina has turned to Brice Johnson to man the interior. There is clear strength in the backcourt with Berry and Paige. If the Tar Heels have shown a weakness this year, it is the common thread that has shown their 2 losses coming as road favorite at N. Iowa (71-67) and at Texas (84-82). Florida St. is better than either of those teams.

Florida State
In fact, this may be the best Florida St. team in the 14th year under HC Leonard Hamilton. The strong home boards of the Donald Tucker Center, where the Sems are 5-0 SU this year, will aid their cause. But, it is in the role of underdog, where Hamilton has perennially shined. In his 13+ years, his teams are 125-80 ATS, when posted as underdog to -1. That includes a record of 13-8 ATS as home underdog and 2-0 ATS with covers at Iowa and an outright win at Florida this season. On Saturday, the Sems got “sandwiched” at Clemson between that Florida victory and this meeting vs. N. Carolina tonight. Fundamentally, FSU has all the talent needed for this mini-upset that comes in the form of their “Killer B” lineup that includes 7 footer, Bojanovsky, on the interior, veteran players Brandon and Bookert, a pair of “do-everything” experienced, senior players and the most dynamic duo of 1st year players in the nation with explosive slashers, Beasley and Bacon.

What's The Pick?
Fueled by their Saturday loss, revenge for their 4 point defeat at Chapel Hill last year, an undefeated home court and the better athletes, it will be no surprise to this bureau that Florida St. pulls the mini-upset tonight. I invite you to join me in putting the NCAA basketball odds in your favor and join me with my NCAA basketball pick on Florida St.
