While I have went through a couple of the best ATS plays for tonight in NCAA Basketball, there are some total that are also available in which I think that the bettor can gain an edge with a little research. Let's take a look at the better offerings for tonight where the betting total is concerned.

Washington vs. Utah
This Isn't Rocket Science
Two reasons why I'm going back to this game is that there isn't much action going on tonight, but more importantly, this is a good game to also bet the total. Utah has proven to be dominant at home, outscoring their opponent 82.5-55.6 while going undefeated. The Utes have more than proven that they can put up the points, led by Delon Wright and while Washington has had low scoring outputs in 2 of their last 3 games, they still went 3-0 and the Huskies are much better than what they've shown offensively as of late.

Look for this to be a competitive game with the betting total placed a bit too low due to some of Utah's previous home clashes. The level of competition has risen with Washington being the opponent of Utah in this game and although it will be an uphill climb for the Huskies, points will be scored and the over is the play in this matchup.

Creighton vs.  Villanova
It will be interesting to see how Villanova bounces back after a dismal and surprising loss to Georgetown. The one big thing that I remember about Villanova from covering them earlier in the season was that head coach Jay Wright was shocked that Villanova was winning off of their defense and the offense was sputtering. Over the season, the Wildcats have managed to flip the script, averaging 75.9 points on 46.8 % shooting from the field.

Despite their last game against the Hoyas, I would totally be leaning towards the over, but Creighton has no go to guy anymore offensively and the only way that they'll make this a competitive game is if they keep it low scoring.

I'm not saying that the game will be competitive, but this is a Creighton team which has lost 8 straight games and hasn't eclipsed the 65 point mark in 7 out of their last 8 games. You add in the fact that Villanova is a great defensive team and the total appears to be a bit too high here. I like the under in this spot.

Notre Dame vs. NC State
Notre Dame Will Get Their Points
This game is rather easy to figure out as Notre Dame averages 81.9 points per game and is the 2nd best shooting team at 52.6% in the nation. 8 out of the Irish's top 10 players all shoot over 50 % from the field and the 2 that don''t, Pat Connaughton (48.8% from the field and 45.5 % from 3-point range) and V.J. Beachem (46 % from 3-point range), the production speaks for itself. Beachem is a 3 -point specialist, coming off of his worst game of the season, shooting 0-10 from the field and is still shooting 47.1% from the field in limited action.

Point being, we have no worries about this game going over the total where Notre Dame is concerned, it's all about their opponent, who are a very good team in their own right. I look for N.C. State, who put up 79 points against North Carolina and who also defeated Duke by outscoring the Blue Devils 87-75, to have no problem keeping up the pace in this game. Don't be afraid of the total; take the over as your NCAA Basketball picks.
