A chance to take sole possession of first place in the Big Ten is on the line today for the Wisconsin Badgers who are favored on the NCAA basketball odds against Indiana.

Season: 30-28-1 (-0.80)

The hype surrounding the Super Bowl makes other sports action today tough to promote. But just in case you're among those folks like myself who do not go gaga over the pro football championship, there are a few big games on the college basketball card like the key Big Ten battle between the Indiana Hoosiers and Wisconsin Badgers.

The tip-off at Kohl Center will be televised by CBS a little past 1 PM (ET), and Wisconsin is a strong 12 point favorite at Bookmaker with signs this one could bump up to 12½ or 13 by game time. Playing the scoreboard means making a decision on a 139 point total.

Sunday's scuffle is a rematch from about a month ago when the Badgers grabbed a 75-68 win at Indiana. Wisconsin scooted out to a 13-0 lead to take control of the game and used a late surge in the second half to seal the victory. The loss still left the Hoosiers with a 96-71 series advantage. Last year's matchup in Madison went to overtime before the Badgers came away with an 82-79 decision as 1½ point home 'dogs. Wisconsin has covered the last three meetings, and the last two at Kohl Center went 'over' the totals.

Hoosiers Just 1-7 ATS Away From Bloomington

Indiana (15-8 straight up, 10-11 against the spread) is coming off a thrilling triple-overtime victory Wednesday against Penn State. The Hoosiers dominated on the glass, but still let a 9-point halftime lead evaporate and were helped along by the Nittany Lions missing nine points at the charity stripe in regulation.

It has been a tough season on the road for Tom Crean's club, Indiana just 1-3 in Big Ten play away from home and failing to cover the NCAA basketball odds in any of those games. Outside Bloomington, the Hoosiers' only cover came in the season-opening win over Kansas. It hasn't helped that they're dealing with several key injuries, the latest being leading scorer James Blackmon Jr. (leg) who is expected to miss his 3rd-straight game.

Badgers Out To Extend Win Streak To 7

Wisconsin (19-3 SU, 11-8 ATS) returns home from road victories over Rutgers and Illinois, needing overtime on an offensively-challenged evening to get past the Scarlet Knights and using outstanding defense to turn away the Fighting Illini. Since dropping their only league contest at Purdue, the Badgers have run off six consecutive wins though they've only managed to cover a pair of those decisions. A dubya today gives Greg Gard's gang a 1-game lead over Maryland in the Big Ten after the Terps lost at home yesterday to the Boilermakers.

While the defense has been pretty solid the last three games, Wisconsin shooters have not enjoyed the same success. I'm counting on that to change today against Indiana's defense with a free college basketball pick on the 'over.'
