Ole Miss and Virginia Tech clash in an early noon tip off at Cassell Coliseum on Sunday. Points will be plenty and a pick on the over-under is the value play. Check it out here.

Ole Miss Rebels (6-2 SU, 3-5 ATS)

Ole Miss has two quality wins under its belt, including toppling Memphis 85-77 as 4.5-point chalk last time out. It also put the hurt on St. Joes 81-68 as 3-point favorites in mid-November. It’s one ugly loss occurred at home against Middle Tennessee, dropping the game 77-62 as 6-point favorites.

The Rebels are a backcourt-dominated group, efficient from the 3-point area. Junior guard Deandre Burnett takes the bulk of the shots, leading the team in scoring with 21.6 points per game. Overall, they roll out four player posting double digits.

The biggest threat in the paint is 6-foot-9 forward Sebastian Saiz. The senior Spanish national puts up 14.1 points, pulls down 11.5 boards and swats 1.1 shots per game.

Ole Miss gets to the line a lot, visiting the charity stripe 29.2 times per game. It’s the third most trips in college basketball.

Defensively, the Rebels are one of the worst at defending the 3-point shot. Teams drain 43.3 percent of attempts from downtown against them. Overall, the Rebels allow 80.1 points per contest.

The 10-points are the most the Rebels have received against an ACC opponent in 10 years.

Virginia Tech Hokies (7-1 SU, 3-2 ATS)

The Hokies stunned Michigan in Ann Arbor 73-70 two games ago as 6.5-point underdogs. It’s one of three high-quality wins for the group, including victories over New Mexico (92-72) and Nebraska (66-53). A win here will likely see them jump into the top 25 of the AP Poll. They are 6-1 ATS in their last seven as favorites.

Senior forward Zach LeDay has led the team in scoring in each of the last three games. His 17.4 points per game also top the squad on the season. The Hokies are a superb shooting team, posting a 56.1 effective field goal rate.

Virginia Tech is a bit undersized below the basket with LeDay the tallest starter at 6-foot-7. On Friday, head coach Buzz Williams announced senior backup center Johnny Hamilton is out for the year due to a thumb surgery. The Rebels go at the hoop aggressively; the Hokies will have to stay out of foul trouble to secure a win.

Ole Miss Rebels vs Virginia Tech Hokies

Ole Miss is a quick-paced team that looks for shots early and often. Its allowed 77 points or more in all but one game this season. The Hokies are a great shooting team that will relish the back-and-forth play with plenty of open looks. Williams’ group has shown a bit of inconsistency of late, including getting outscored in the second half of the Maryland Eastern-Shore game last time out, so a play on the side is a bit risky. The 10.5-point spread is pretty steep. The total, on the other side, offers value as your NCAA basketball picks. Whichever team wins will drop 80-plus. The loser will not be far behind. OVER 155 is the play.
