Surprisingly, with the field narrowed down even further I've been able to still find decent betting angles on the limited slate of games available. Sit back and enjoy two tickets being cashed to the Final Four, and a few tickets being cashed at your bookie as well.

South Carolina vs. Florida

Unlike most of the matchups I’ve handicapped thus far in the tournament, South Carolina and Florida offer us a few past games this season to help us along. In this game, there is a clear advantage with the athletic Gator team.

Florida just picked up one of the most impressive last second victories I’ve ever seen, and I don’t think that it would be wise to fade them against the upstart 7th seeded South Carolina Gamecocks. South Carolina used their length to keep Baylor at bay in their round of 16 matchup with Wisconsin, but that advantage isn’t nearly as prevalent here.

These teams played twice already this season, each holding serve at home in conference games. Florida’s win at home was more impressive, and 81-66 cover as a 7.5-point favorite about a month ago. South Carolina forced the Gators into an ugly contest on their home court, with neither team shooting over 35% from the floor – and that was the losing team with the better conversion percentage. The Gamecocks won 57-53, and one can only point to the 0-17 shooting from beyond the arc for Florida as the reason why. They corrected that in the second matchup to 47.4%, and after seeing that last buzzer beater by Florida’s, Chris Chiozza, I don’t see them shooting 0% again even with Elite 8 pressure. Florida is still my pick to come out of this region and I’ll lay the 3 points at Pinnacle as one of my Sunday college basketball picks.

Kentucky vs. North Carolina

College basketball fans are getting a gift by seeing these two teams play again this season, as the first game was a 103-100 classic won by Kentucky back in December.

Even though these two teams are cashing O/U totals trending to the Under at a combined 31-40-1, their first game indicates that the pace could pick up here. Kentucky has been especially strong cashing Unders in the last month, riding a 9-1 Under trend coming into this game.

The first game flew over the listed total of 171 by 32 points, and even with that on the books the line here has opened up at 158 at Pinnacle. Each team shoots well though, obviously, with Kentucky and North Carolina sitting at a nearly identical 47.5% and 47.2% from the field. And both teams like to play at a fast pace as well, with Kentucky averaging 63 attempts and North Carolina averaging 66 attempts per game. But what I like about this Over call, is that Kentucky does not try to slow down their opponents – they average 61 attempts per game. North Carolina would have to go out of their way to slow down pace here as a result. I don’t see that happening, which is why I am taking Over 158 in this game at Pinnacle.
