Free NCAAB Pick: Eastern Washington +7Best Line Offered: at 5Dimes

On a light schedule for this Thursday we are on a search for wagering value in the NCAAB, and it turns out we don’t have to go far to find it. My alma mater, Eastern Washington, travels to San Francisco to take on the Dons of the West Coast Conference. It’s the continuation of an annual series of games that has had the Eastern Eagles winning over the last two seasons SU and covering as ATS underdogs in each game. In this game they find themselves as even bigger underdogs with the line opening at -6 in favor of the Dons and moving to -7 across the board as of Wednesday evening. The Over has cashed in each of the last two years and has been placed at 141.5 across the board for this game.

The Eagles are led by 6’ 6” senior swingman, Bogdan Bliznyuk, who after averaging 20.1 points per game last year is having a bit of a slow start in averaging 14.1 points per game this year. He’s had some absolute duds this year, but has also rose to the occasion and scored 20 points against Washington (just took out #2 Kansas), and was instrumental in Eastern Washington’s 67-61 upset over Stanford as a 16.5-point underdog by scoring 23 points. It appears that as Bliznyuk goes in this matchup Eastern goes as well, with Bliznyuk scoring 32 points in last year’s 96-90 win, and him putting up 37 important minutes and 17 points in their 2015 win. His relative familiarity with the opponent will be a boon here.

On the other hand, the player that kept the Dons in the game last year is no longer in the school, as guard Ronnie Boyce and his 27 points in the 96-90 SFU loss in 2016 graduated. The remaining star for the Dons is 6’ 5” senior forward Chase Foster, who has been shut down by the Eagles in the last two year’s losses. Additionally, in last year’s match up he scored only 12 points and in 2015 only scored 6 points in a part time role. The second leading scorer for the Dons is Souley Boum, but he also hasn’t played since October 28th for undisclosed reasons.

The overall rankings for the Dons is not pretty, with the team being ranked 333rd in the country win field goal percentage at 39.1%, and 323rd in 3pt percentage at 29.3%. Eastern Washington is only slightly better at 324th in field goal percentage and 312th in 3pt percentage. However, only one team is getting 7 points in this game and that is the Eagles, which is why I will back Eastern Washington +7 as my Thursday NCAAB pick, with a personal play on their moneyline as well.

2017-18 NCAAB Record: 13-3, +9.80 Units
