Looking to end the regular season with a strong run and secure the No. 2 seed for the Atlantic Conference Tournament next week in Brooklyn, Mike Krzyzewski takes his Duke Blue Devils on the road for a Big Monday matchup with the Virginia Tech Hokies.

An overflow crowd is expected to cram into Cassell Coliseum on Senior Night, ESPN’s cameras going live at 7 PM (ET). No. 5 Duke (ranking could change later Monday), a 6-point favorite at BetOnline, has the inside edge for the runner-up position behind Virginia in the ACC race, the Blue Devils currently a game ahead of North Carolina with those rivals set to end the campaign in Durham on Saturday. Buzz Williams and Virginia Tech are currently tied for sixth and still have a shot at one of the top 4 spots in the conference, those teams receiving byes into the quarterfinals.

Bagley Nets 19 After Missing 4 Games With Knee Injury

Tonight’s tilt is a quick rematch of a meeting at Cameron less than two weeks ago when Duke pasted a 74-52 beating on Va Tech. Playing without Marvin Bagley III, the Blue Devils pulled away late in the first half to double up the 11-point spread on the NCAA basketball odds. The triumph was Duke’s 10th in the last 11 meetings, giving the Blue Devils a 46-9 lead in the rivalry. Virginia Tech’s lone victory in the span came last year in Blacksburg, an 89-75 decision as a 4½-point underdog against a Duke squad that was also ranked fifth in the polls.

Coach K brings his crew in on a 5-game win streak, the Blue Devils covering all five with the last four contests finishing short of the totals. The latest came two days ago vs. Syracuse, a 60-44 final laying 13½. Aside from the dubya, the best news for the Blue Devils might have been getting Bagley back on the court after the freshman missed four games with a knee injury. The 6-11 forward came off the bench and played 31 minutes, hitting 8 of 9 shots to lead Duke with 19 points.

Hokies Blow 10-Point Lead In Loss To Louisville

While Duke was whipping ‘Cuse, Virginia Tech appeared to be heading towards a win over Louisville on Saturday, building a 10-point lead over the Cardinals in the first half. The Hokies couldn’t maintain that, however, and eventually fell by a 75-68 count as Louisville completed a sweep in the series. Four of the Hokies’ seven ACC setbacks have come at Cassell, where they were 14-2 last year.

Totals for this evening’s game range from 156½-158, and the ‘under’ is 12-3 in the last 15 clashes. Two of the three ‘over’ winners in that stretch have come in the last two matchups in Blacksburg, and that’s the direction I’m going with my free college basketball pick.
