Injuries, past history, and reversion to the mean factor in No. 18 Duke, No. 10 Florida State, and No. 7 Creighton potentially serving as trap games in college basketball's loaded Saturday schedule.

Louisville Cardinals vs Florida State Seminoles

The Cardinals opened as 1-point favorites, but the line jumped the fence in favor of the Seminoles who are now 3-point chalk. FSU enjoy a school-record 12 game win streak and have beaten five top 25 programs this season. They’ve accomplished the latter just four times in the five years prior combined. This team, perhaps the best ever in Tallahassee, are due for a slip-up.

Louisville is catching the Seminoles at the end of a grueling run of games against the ACC’s best, which included wins over Virginia, Virginia Tech, Duke, Notre Dame, and a loss at UNC. Expect head coach Rick Pitino’s stifling defense to take advantage of some tired legs.

FSU is at their best when hot offensively. It has scored more than projected in 12 of 17 games in this year’s betting market, averaging an astonishing 86.3 points per game. The Cardinals, though, have only allowed four teams to reach 80 points or more in the last five seasons. The Seminoles will most likely to play this game on Louisville’s terms, providing an edge for the visitors.

The Cardinals have dropped their last eight games straight as road underdogs, including five in a row against the spread. Prior to the streak, they compiled an 18-18 SU record and went 25-10-1 ATS over the last decade when spotted points away from home. Look for Pitino’s squad to get back to its upset ways.

Miami (FL) Hurricanes vs Duke Blue Devils

Duke is in disarray. They are .500 in ACC play, missing head coach Mike Krzyzewski who is recovering from back surgery, and will likely be without co-captain Amile Jefferson due to a bone bruise on his left foot. A home game against Miami isn’t necessarily the best medicine either.

Hurricanes head coach Jim Larrañaga coaches the program into competition nearly every trip to Cameron Indoor Stadium. The Sunshine State representatives are 5-0-1 ATS in their last six visits to Durham. More impressive is that Duke tips off as 13.8-point favorites in this stretch, but post only a 2-point average winning margin. Miami has won one twice outright as 12-point and 15.5-point pups while dropping two others as a high-priced dog by only three points in each. The Hurricanes are getting 9.5 points for this one, and are arguably catching Duke at its most vulnerable in years.

Marquette Golden Eagles vs Creighton Bluejays

Creighton, 18-1 and enjoying its best start in program history, is bound to start sinking with the loss of Maurice Watson Jr. The fifth-year point guard tore is ACL in the first half of the 72-67 win over Xavier on Monday and is out for the season. The Blue Jays have many weapons, but how will they respond without Watson? He captained the ship of one of the nation’s most efficient offenses and led the country in assists. Marquette pulled off a shock upset on this floor last season, 66-61 as 7.5-points underdogs and see 5.5 points in this one. Defense ruled the day in last year’s matchup and will have to shine against a rudderless Creighton crew today.
