This handicapper is suffering from a case of the splits with our recent college basketball Plays of the Day, and that doesn't get anybody anywhere. Let's shoot for two Wednesday night.
Oregon -6 vs. Washington
The 15-7 Ducks host the 14-7 Huskies in a rematch of a game of just a couple weeks ago.
Oregon would probably make the NCAA tournament if the field were decided today, even though it really doesn't have that many “good” wins. The Ducks own victories over Illinois and Oregon State, but that's about it. Beating Arizona State twice, including 68-67 in overtime last Friday, doesn't exactly impress us.
Oregon is 5-4 in Pac-12 play so far, but going 10-8 in this conference this season might not be enough to earn an invitation to the Big Dance.
Friday the Ducks beat the Sun Devils straight-up as six-point road dogs. But just before that Oregon got roasted by Arizona 90-56. Just before that, though, the Ducks beat UCLA by 18. So at the moment Oregon is doing the roller-coaster thing; up one night, down the next.
Washington, meanwhile, is running streaky this season. The Huskies started 11-0, with wins over San Diego State and Oklahoma, then lost four in a row, then won three in a row but have now lost three in a row, after falling at home to Cal Sunday 90-88. U-Dub trailed by 13 in the first half, rallied and led late, but gave up a game-winning three-pointer with five seconds left.
So the Huskies are only 3-6 in Pac-12 play, and need to make a run at .500 before thinking about going Dancing.
However, one of Washington's conference victories came against these Ducks two weeks ago, an 85-77 decision in Seattle.
Oregon won last time out as a six-point dog, while the Huskies lost outright as six-point favorites. But in expectation of a reversal of fortune we'll take U-Dub NCAA Basketball pick and the points tonight.

Georgetown -6.5 vs. Providence
We approach tonight's Hoyas-Friars game in DC with a similar line of thinking.
Georgetown is 15-6 overall, only 8-9 ATS, but 7-3 in Big East play. The Hoyas recently won four in a row, lost at home to Xavier, then Saturday won at Creighton 67-40. Georgetown shot 50 percent from the floor, held the Bluejays to just 21 percent shooting and cruised to a cover as a field-goal favorite.
Providence also recently won three in a row, covering three spreads in a row, but last Saturday lost at St. John's 75-66. The Friars trailed by a dozen at the half, rallied to within a bucket, then ran out of gas and missed ATS as three-point dogs. But on the whole Providence is 16-6 SU this season, 12-6 ATS and 6-3 in Big East play.
If the NCAA tournament started today both these team might make it.
Providence just beat Georgetown three weeks ago 60-57 in overtime, pushing the spread as a three-point favorite. Neither team shot the ball worth a shit that night, and the largest lead either team held was seven points.
Georgetown posted a blowout its last time out, while the Friars lost at St. John's. But again, in thinking this game might fall into the “reversal of fortune” category we'll take the underdog and the points here.
