UCLA Bruins come into this game with a ton of confidence after their season opener against Pacific. They welcome tonight CSUN Matadors as double-digit favorites on the betting odds board. Let's break down the game and find where the value lies before hitting the virtual window.

CS Northridge Matadors vs. #16 UCLA Bruins  An Offensive Machine

One thing that we know is that a ton of points will be scored by both teams in this matchup as the UCLA Bruins come into this game with a ton of confidence after their season opener against Pacific.  Against the Tigers, the Bruins poured in a record 18 3-pointers on route to an 119-80 victory. This game is expected to be a shootout and senior Bryce Alford is expected to be a go-to guy for the Bruins.

 Chip Off the Old Block

Many of you remember guard Steve Alford, who was known for draining deep shots for the Indiana Hoosiers and head coach Bobby Knight. Bryce Alford is somewhat of a similar basketball player that can flourish at the collegiate level. That said, Alford can play much better defense than his father.

Alford is coming off of a monster performance against Pacific that saw him drain 6 -3 pointers and grab 2 steals to go along with a team-high 30 points. Alford isn't afraid to shoot the basketball and is almost automatic from the free throw line. I don't think UCLA will have to worry about Alford's free throw shooting here as this game is a complete mismatch.

Along with Alford, the Bruins return with the very reliable senior, Issac Hamilton. Hamilton averaged nearly 17 points per game last season and had 17 points and 8 assists against Pacific. Along with two top-rated seniors, the Bruins feature very talented incoming freshman. Lonzo Ball was two rebounds away from a triple-double in the season opener while big man, T.J. Leaf had a double-double (22 points, 15 rebounds) in his first college game. This freshman combination should elevate the Bruins ranking in the AP Top 25 as the season progresses.

For the Matadors, guard Kendall Smith, looked mighty impressive in CS Northridge's season opening 96-72 victory over Pomona as he had 17 points, 7 assists, and 5 rebounds, but the level of competition becomes greater and the Matadors don't have the pure talent to match up with UCLA.
