The Creighton Bluejays haven’t had much success against ranked teams in the past, as they prepare to take on the Villanova Wildcats Monday night. Have the sportsbooks left us bettors any value worth taking advantage of?

Let’s take a closer look at the NCAA basketball odds for this Big East Conference matchup at the Wells Fargo Center, with the opening tip scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET on Fox Sports 1.

Updated 2014 NCAA Basketball Future Odds

Disappointing effort

Creighton had its 10-game winning streak snapped in a suffering a 81-68 defeat to the Providence Friars as four-point road favorites last Saturday, as leading scorer Doug McDermott failed to make a 3-pointer for the first time during the 2013-14 campaign.

The senior forward is capable of bouncing back in a big way, as McDermott ranks 25th in NCAA history with 2,665 career points.

Over the last two-plus seasons, the program is 4-4 SUATS as underdogs, with the UNDER going 6-1 in that situation.

Solid basketball

Villanova has rattled off five consecutive victories since suffering its only loss of the season at Syracuse on Dec. 18, as it comes off a 88-62 win over the DePaul Blue Demons as 17-point home favorites last Saturday.

The Wildcats have outscored opponents in the second half in 14 of 17 games, while their bench has accounted for 13.2 of the team’s +16.1-point scoring margin.

College basketball handicappers will find that the squad is a dominating 30-5 SU and 22-12-1 ATS as favorites since the start of the 2011-12 season.

A bad situation

The Bluejays are going to receive a good amount of action as underdogs, but it’s important to point out that they’ve dropped their last 25 true road games versus ranked opponents.

Creighton is a dismal 18-118 SU all-time against teams that are nationally-ranked in the AP poll.

Change of venue

The Wildcats will be making their first appearance at the Wells Fargo Center in 2013-14, as they won all three games at the venue a season ago.

Villanova upended a trip of top-five teams at this facility during the 2012-13 campaign—picking up wins over Georgetown, Louisville and Syracuse.

I’m going to recommend that readers back the Wildcats with their NCAA Basketball picks, as they’ve gone 23-8 ATS in their last 31 games versus teams with a winning record.

NCAA Basketball Pick:  Villanova Wildcats -6
