DePaul (11-17 SU, 14-13 ATS) fans are frustrated with another losing year. Hashtag #FireJLP, in reference to athletic director Jean Lenti Ponsetto, trends regularly on Twitter. The program has not pieced together a winning Big East season since 2006, Ponsetto overseeing operations since 2002.It is 4-12 SU headed into Omaha for Tuesday’s contest at Creighton (22-7 SU, 16-11 ATS), one game up on St. John’s for last place. Have the Blue Demons packed it in for the year? Bettors need to ponder this question.

DePaul ranks 99th overall in KenPom’s adjusted ratings, not bad overall. Nonetheless. It struggles against Big East elites. In eight games squaring off against conference foes sporting a point differential greater than 7.0 points, the Blue Demons are 0-8 SU and 2-6 ATS. The Bluejays enter with a plus-9.2 average margin. DePaul’s defense is thrashed in this spot, gifting 85.5 points per game on 49.2 percent shooting. It is losing by an average 14.4 points, failing to cover a 9.4 line by 5.0 points a contest.

Creighton’s offense should thrive in this spot. It scores the seventh most points in the country at 84.7 points per game. In five previous matchups versus DePaul head coach Dave Leitao, Greg McDermott’s men average 86.2 per contest on 53.7 percent shooting. They have put up 76 points or more in each. The Bluejays, for what it’s worth, are 24-3 SU and 20-7 ATS hosting conference foes at CenturyLink Center Omaha when scoring 75 points or more during McDermott’s tenure.

DePaul is deflated, while Creighton is full of confidence following an 89-83 upset win over No. 3 Villanova on Saturday. This one could get real ugly, real fast. Do not expect a let down. It's a Senior Night Whiteout and McDermott is rallying the students:

Bluejays win 80-61 in a rout. Lay the points (-9) and lean ‘under’ the 154 total in your NCAA Basketball picks.

Kansas State vs TCU (-6.5)

TCU (20-9 SU, 15-12 ATS) coach Jamie Dixon is an offensive genius. In 14 years as a Division I head, he’s never had a unit finish the year ranked over No. 50 in KenPom’s adjusted efficiency ratings. Only one other coach in the six powerhouse basketball conferences (ACC, BE, B10, B12, P12, and SEC) has accomplished this feat in this span: Mike Krzyzewski. The Horned Frogs rank fourth in the country hosting Kansas State (20-9 SU, 12-14 ATS) Tuesday.

Expect another high-scoring effort in this contest. Opening with a -7 line and 147.5 game total, market projections imply TCU will put up 77-78 points in a win. This is too low. The Horned Frogs are a model of consistency at Schollmaier Arena, posting 82 points or more in all but one conference home game this season (Texas Tech, 71). They average 85.1 points per game on 48.9 percent shooting in this situation. The ‘over’ is a perfect 8-0, a 162.6 final score easily topping a 154.1 average total.

The Wildcats offense is Jekyll and Hyde in Big 12 road contests. It’s posted 90-plus twice (Iowa State, Baylor) and under 60 twice (Texas Tech, West Virginia). Like the TCU offense, conference visitors to Fort Worth often produce stable results. Every one has put up at least 70 points. Look for Kansas State to do the same. TCU wins 85-73, covering the spread and pushing the final tally ‘over’ the total. Pick accordingly.
