I think I may have just witnessed one of the best endings to a college basketball game ever as Florida beats Wisconsin at the buzzer. I'm looking for even more tight contests as the remainder of March Madness plays out on the court this Saturday.

Xavier vs. Gonzaga

The Xavier Musketeer’s started an amazing ATS trend in March, after an equally amazing ATS losing streak in February. This team is as streaky as they come which should scare anyone laying chalk on Gonzaga.

With the number 1 seeded Gonzaga Bulldogs dodging a second matchup with 2nd seeded Arizona this year, the markets have opened their game against 11th seeded Xavier with the Bulldogs listed as 8.5-point favorites. That number has created a quick influx of money on Xavier, with nearly 70% of public money coming in on the underdogs against a Gonzaga team that has failed to put teams away in this year’s tournament. Even in their first-round game against South Dakota State, Gonzaga allowed the Jackrabbits to hang around and cover the number. Gonzaga is good, but are playing tight against the huge expectations that they have. I’ll be grabbing Xavier +8.5 at Pinnacle before the number gets bet down any further.

A tight team also misses easy shots, which was the case for Gonzaga in their matchup with West Virginia. Even when they broke the press and had seemingly easy layups they failed to convert. They also missed a ton of free throws, pushing that game under the total by 31 points. Xavier is also playing great defense during this ATS winning streak, going 5-1-1 cashing Unders in their 7-0 trend. I’ll back the tight shooting team and the defensive momentum of Xavier by taking Under 145.5 at Pinnacle. Xavier and the Under would make a great teaser play in my opinion as well.

 St. Peter’s vs. Texas State

Both of these teams have gotten very deliberate on offense in the last few weeks, so much so that no matter how hot they get from the field it will be hard for this game to go over the listed total.

Getting to the end of the CIT here, and 20-13 St. Peter’s travels to 22-13 Texas State to meet up with the Texas State Bobcats. What’s interesting about this game is that St. Peters had over two weeks off before playing in their first CIT matchup, a 59-55 win over Albany on the road last week. Now they’ve gone another 9 full days before playing Texas State, so one has to wonder what kind of offensive rhythm the Peacocks will be in.

Texas State on the other hand, has played consistently since the end of the regular season, picking up 3 more games played as compared to St. Peter’s since March 4th. They are cashing Unders at a 4-1 clip in that span, and have also averaged less than 50 attempts per game. The slow pace of the Bobcats, along with the slow pace and rustiness of St. Peter’s, makes this a pretty easy Under 120 pick at Bovada for one of my Saturday college basketball picks.
