Another tight Big East showdown is expected, with Georgetown currently favored by 1.5 points at most online sportsbooks. For the record, the Hoyas have covered in both meetings with Syracuse this season.
The Orange held off a furious rally from Pittsburgh to win 62-59 yesterday. Coming in as 2.5-point underdogs, they got off to a red-hot start, outscoring the Panthers by 13 in the first half.
James Southerland was hitting everything. He was 7-of-10 overall but nailed all six of his three-point attempts. C.J. Fair and Brandon Triche combined for 25 points, while Michael Carter-Williams racked up 11 points, six assists, six rebounds and three steals. Carter-Williams will have to do be much more careful with the ball tonight though after turning it over six times against Pittsburgh.
In two encounters with Georgetown's suffocating defense, the Orange have scored a grand total of 85 points. Yikes. Southerland has been on fire in the tournament so far, but he was held without a point in the 61-39 road loss to the Hoyas last week.
Picking up right where they left off, the Hoyas had no trouble dispatching Cincinnati in a 62-43 win. The Bearcats were able to stay competitive for a short time, but Georgetown used a 33-19 second half to get the job done.
Otto Porter hit just 3-of-9 from the field, but he was more aggressive than usual and finished 11-of-11 from the charity stripe. This season against the Orange, he's totaled 43 points, most of which came in a 33-point outburst in the win in the Carrier Dome.
Georgetown's defense has been downright frightening as of late. They've allowed 82 total points over their last two games and have surrendered 55.6 PPG on 39.1 percent shooting over their previous five.

College Basketball Pick
The Hoyas have been Syracuse's kryptonite this season, winning both meetings straight up and against the spread.
Is it finally time for the Orange to get the best of Potter and company?
We just don't see it. If you've been following our NCAA Basketball picks, you'll know we've had no trouble siding with Syracuse throughout this tournament, but Georgetown's ridiculously tough defense and Potter's star quality make it hard to go against the favorites here.NCAA Basketball Pick: Georgetown Hoyas -1.5
