Conference play has taken its toll on both of these teams. Will it be Pittsburgh or Florida State that emerge victorious this evening for our college basketball picks?

College Basketball Picks for Michigan State vs. Michigan

Odds Overview

At essentially every sportsbook we check, the Panthers are favored by eight points on the college basketball odds board, with the total trading at either 132 or 132.5. The OVER has gone 13-9 in Pittsburgh's games this season, though the UNDER checks in at 14-9-1 for those involving the Seminoles.

On the year Pittsburgh is 20-6 SU but only 7-15-1 ATS, while Florida State can be found at 15-11 SU and 13-11 against the spread.

Florida State Seminoles

The Seminoles are coming off a 75-81 loss to North Carolina, a defeat which means they've now lost three of their last four and six of their past eight.

Florida State was leading for a large chunk of the game but saw the win slip through their fingers towards the end of the second half.

Overall the Seminoles shot 43.1 percent overall, but only three players scored in double figures. Ian Miller had 22 points on 7-of-16 shooting and Montay Brandon and Aaron Thomas combined for 34 points in the losing effort.

It was a big-time struggle on the defensive end for Florida State, who had trouble with North Carolina's length inside. The Seminoles were out-rebounded 40-29 and had a lot of trouble stopping Brice Johnson, Kennedy Meeks and Marcus Paige.

Now the attention turns to Pittsburgh. When last on the road, Florida State overcame Wake Forest by seven, but before that they had lost four in a row. Overall though, they've been solid against the spread when playing away from home, going 8-6 ATS heading into tonight.

Pittsburgh Panthers

After a couple shaky overtime wins over Miami (FL) and Virginia Tech, the Panthers found their match in consecutive losses to Syracuse (56-58) and North Carolina (71-75).

Pittsburgh gave it their all against the Tar Heels but just couldn't stop James Michael McAdoo from enforcing his will. The Panthers didn't have their most efficient offensive night either, shooting just 40.6 percent overall, 26.7 percent from three and 65.2 percent from the charity stripe.

Lamar Patterson, James Robinson and Jamel Artis were the only Pittsburgh players to hit double figures in scoring. Talib Zanna, who came in averaging 12.4 points per game, really struggled, hitting 2-of-11 shots for five points, though he did chip in with eight rebounds and a couple blocks.

Once at 10-0 and then 16-1, the Panthers have certainly crashed back down to earth, especially since ACC action begun. Nonetheless, all six of their losses have come against some of the better teams in the country.

In short, Pittsburgh has essentially won when they've supposed to, so fans have to be feeling good about their chances of getting back on the winning side here against an inconsistent Florida State squad. The Panthers, despite struggling against the spread, have an excellent 13-3 SU record at home so far this season.

College Basketball Pick

When push comes to shove, we're going to take a chance on Pittsburgh to cover this sizable number. They've suffered two tough losses in a row but they came against top competition and were hardly surprising defeats.

While the Panthers are just 3-10 ATS at home this season, we believe they'll add a win to that tally tonight. This is a great spot for them to bounce back after two straight losses and we expect them to do so.

Lay the number and back Pittsburgh as one of your college basketball picks.
