For today’s NCAA college basketball matchups we head to both sides of the country. It seems to me oddsmakers have made the home teams a little bit too big of a favorite in this spot, so look to grab the points here with these feisty underdogs.

Davidson vs North Carolina

North Carolina took care of business at home bouncing back from a bad loss versus Michigan State by handling Michigan winning by double digits. It makes sense for odds makers to make them another big favorite today but this Davidson team is no joke and should be able to keep up with the up-tempo Tar Heels. These two teams have a decent history and have played every year over the past four seasons with North Carolina winning every matchup. However, oddsmakers have come out making North Carolina a -11.5 favorite which is lower than what we have seen, and for my NCAA basketball pick, I’m going to take the points with Davidson. Last year as a +16 underdog Davidson hung into the end with North Carolina losing 83-74. This team that Bob McKillop has this season I think is at least on par with last year and should keep this game relatively close. On the season they are shooting 48% overall, but more impressively shooting 62% on their two-point shots.

Boise State vs Oregon

Chandler Hutchison is back from injury and should give Boise State a nice boost as they visit always tough Oregon. Oddsmakers have come out making Oregon a solid -8 favorite, but for my NCAA pick I will take Boise state plus the points. This might be the best team they have had in some time and they should compete for the Mountain West title. Of course Oregon is from the bigger conference and is at home, but it seems to me Dana Altman’s crew is a little bit down from last year. The drop-off is not much as they are currently shooting 47.5% overall and allowing just 36.7% defensively. But their level of competition has not been overwhelming, and I actually think this will be their toughest matchup to date despite the fact they’ve already played Connecticut. On the season Boise State has been efficient and as always are shooting well from beyond the arc at 41.5%. What should help them in this game though is the fact they are defending from beyond the arc also allowing opponents shoot just 25% from distance. Although I’ve a hard time thinking they can upset the Ducks in Oregon I do believe they can take this to the buzzer.
