Looking at the NCAA basketball odds boards, I call this the “Linemaker’s Blessing Play”. Why else would Iowa be favored by a full 4 pt. home court, knowing that they trail Indiana by 2 games?

Indiana vs. Iowa (-4) 9:00 ET
Iowa is on a three game losing streak, and Indiana is on a three game winning streak. Why, indeed? As a result, when the Indiana Hoosiers travel to face the Iowa Hawkeyes this Tuesday, March 1st at Carver Hawkeye Arena, we are eager to suit up with the home standing Hawkeyes fueled by 85-78 revenge at the Hoosiers’ undefeated home court of Assembly Hall.

It is that 8-0 SU home record that has allowed Indiana to vault to the pole position in the Big 10, as the teams make the turn down the home stretch. For on the road they are a mediocre 5-3 SU, 3-5 ATS in Conference play. The partial secret to Indiana’s success is the line maker giving them a road schedule which AVOIDED GAMES AT MARYLAND, OHIO ST, AND PURDUE, sending them instead to the bottom tier of the league with games that included Rutgers, Nebraska, Minnesota, Penn St, and Illinois. The losses have come when they stepped up in road games at Wisconsin, Michigan St (and even Penn St). The 94-foot offensive style of play has greatly benefited from the rule changes, and has worked like a charm at their Bloomington home where they are 16-0. Tonight they face an angry Hawkeye team with plenty of motivation.

This is a senior laden Hawkeye team who has shockingly faded down the stretch. They enter tonight on negative runes of 0-3 SU, 0-5 ATS. It all began with that road loss 85-78 at Indiana on February 11th. Combined with recent defeats at Penn St, their only home loss of the season to Wisconsin, and at Ohio St Sunday (Buckeyes QLHG victory), they are in the ideal LHG scenario to get this win. Carver Hawkeye has been one of the strongest home courts in the nation. Iowa is 58-11 SU on this court L4Y, including 13-1 SU this season. In a most impressive way, Iowa under sixth year HC McCaffery is 54-32 ATS on this court.

Combination of a senior laden team playing their LHG against the league leader with SSR (same season revenge), and off a trio of losses, is too much to pass up. At least that’s what the line maker thinks!  I invite you to join the odds maker and this bureau by putting the NCAA basketball odds boards in your favor and playing my NCAA basketball picks on Iowa tonight.
