Can the Florida Gators lock up at least the No. 2 seed in the SEC tourney with a win Wednesday, or will Arkansas upset the NCAA basketball odds in the Gainesville grudge match?

Mike White and the Florida Gators still hold out hope of capturing at least a share of the regular-season SEC title. To do that, they need to close with two wins this week and get some help from Kentucky's next opponent. Considering the Wildcats' next opponent is a Texas A&M team UK thrashed by 42 earlier this season, Florida's chances appear slim and none.

That doesn't mean, however, that the Gators have nothing to play for since a No. 2 seed in the tournament next week in Nashville remains on the line. The Arkansas Razorbacks would love to sneak in the back door and claim that seed, something they can take a step towards doing with an upset tonight (7 PM ET) in Gainesville. Sportsbook such as Bookmaker overnight line went out Florida -11, the total making a quick adjustment from 152 to 153, a little extra emphasis on the 'over.'

Hogs On 5-Game Run With 5-Straight Covers

The Hump Day affair is a rematch from a couple of months ago when the two met in Fayetteville to tip off their conference schedules. Arkansas hung with Florida for most of the first half before the Gators pulled away for the 81-72 decision. KeVaughn Allen triggered the victory with 21 points, connecting on 5-of-9 from beyond the arc, one of four Gators to score in double figures.

The loss was part of a 1-3 start for Arkansas (22-7 straight up, 15-12 against the spread) in SEC play, but Mike Anderson's men didn't throw in the towel and come into this contest on a 5-game win streak, covering the NCAA basketball odds in each victory. Three of the wins during the streak have come on the road with the Razorbacks coming off an 11-point decision this past Saturday at Auburn where the match closed as a pick 'em.

Gators Drop Final February Tilt After 9-Game Streak

Florida (23-6 SU, 16-11 ATS) saw its 9-game string of triumphs come to an end this past weekend in a 76-66 setback at Kentucky. Knotted at intermission, the Gators came out of the locker room with a strong push to take an 8-point lead with 13 minutes remaining before Malik Monk caught fire and rallied the Wildcats to the win.  Getting 5 on the road, it was the third time in five trips to the floor that Florida backers took the loss. With several players in foul trouble throughout the contest, the Gators were bested by 22-4 at the charity stripe.

The win at Arkansas in late-December left Florida with a 21-11 series advantage that has been built by taking the last six meetings. The teams have split the covers during that stretch, totals also halved in the half-dozen encounters. Last year's matchup in Gainesville ended 68-61 in the Gators' favor, the final staying 'under' a 146 point mark for the seventh low-side winner in the last eight clashes on this floor. I'm liking that trend for my college basketball pick.
