Let’s take a closer look at the college basketball odds for this ACC matchup between the Boston College Eagles and the Syracuse Orange at the Carrier Dome, with the opening tip scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET on ESPN2.

The Syracuse Orange haven’t played very well offensively over the last couple weeks, which could provide value for the Boston College Eagles Wednesday.

Updated NCAA Tournament Odds & Predictions

Falling flat

Boston College is 0-5 SU and 2-3 ATS over its last five games, as it attempts to bounce back from a 73-69 defeat to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish as two-point home favorites Sunday, while going OVER the betting total for a fifth consecutive contest.

The Eagles have allowed their last three opponents to average 78.7 points and shoot 53.7 percent from the field.

Over the last two-plus seasons, the program is 0-5 SU and 3-2 ATS as road underdogs of 12.5 to 15 points, with the OVER going 3-1 in that situation.

Sitting on top

Syracuse occupies the top spot in the national rankings, as it improved to 25-0 SU after picking up a 56-55 victory over the NC State Wolfpack as 13-point home favorites last Saturday, while going UNDER the betting total for the fourth consecutive contest.

The Orange have now won 46 consecutive home games versus unranked opponents—picking up those victories by an average of 21.1 points.

College basketball handicappers will find that the Orange are 5-0 SU and 1-4 ATS as home favorites of 12.5 or more points this season.

Troubling situation

The Eagles have dropped nine of their last 10 road games, which makes it hard to back them on the SBR Odds page, considering they’ve also ended up on the losing end in their last 11 meetings with top-25 foes.

Boston College is also 1-13 SU and 3-10-1 ATS when revenging a home loss the last two-plus seasons—suffering a 69-59 setback to Syracuse as 8.5-point home underdogs on Jan. 13.

Trying to find its shooting touch

The Orange have averaged 64.6 points on 45.0 percent shooting over their last five games, but those numbers may creep up in facing an opponent that’s surrendered 77.8 points a contest over that same time period.

Syracuse has four players averaging in double figures, with senior forward C.J. Fair leading the way at 16.5 points a contest.

I’m going to recommend that readers back the Eagles as one of their college basketball picks, as I’ve developed a handicapper line favoring the Orange by 12.5 points.
