Iowa State and TCU are two of three semifinalists in the 2017 Big 12 Men’s Basketball Championship that shocked as underdogs in the quarters. Which program will bite Friday?

No. 4 Iowa State vs. No. 8 TCU

Iowa State is 9-1 SU and 8-1-1 ATS in conference play as a favorite or short-priced dog getting less than a bucket. Oddsmakers opened this matchup -3 in favor of the Cyclones, and the line bet up to -4 in early trading. Head coach Steve Prohm’s squad is lighting it up offensively. Since Feb. 1, it is averaging 81.6 points per game, shooting an astonishing 47.2 percent from behind the arc with 11.8 3-pointers per contest. The Cyclones have gone 'over' their projected team total in all but one of  the 10 games by an average of 7.6 points per contest.

TCU went 3-10 SU and ATS in its final 13 regular season Big 12 games but is on a miraculous run after beating Oklahoma and AP No. 1 Kansas in the first two rounds of the conference tournament. Sportsbooks dangled +5000 odds on the Horned Frogs to win it all prior to Monday.

TCU ranks 40th in the country in offensive efficiency according to Kenpom, theoretically owning the firepower to hang with Iowa State. Nevertheless, in 12 conference games as an underdog, the Horned Frogs put up just 68.1 points per game, scoring more than 80 points once in the face of a 142.3 total average. Iowa State, meanwhile, posted 84.2 points per game against 10 conference opponents when tipping off with a total higher than 144.5, right around where oddsmakers will set it for tonight. The Horned Frogs keep it competitive but run out of buckets late.
