Georgetown has enjoyed some recent success in non-conference home games against ranked opponents, which makes it a top College Basketball pick against Kansas Wednesday.

Getting Better
Kansas has put together a five-game win streak since suffering a 32-point loss to Kentucky on Nov. 18, which can’t be ignored when looking over the NCAA Basketball odds, as it looks to improve to 3-0 SU in this series under head coach Bill Self.

The Jayhawks still need to improve on the perimeter offensively, as they rank 211th in the country in shooting 32.1 percent from beyond the arc, with Wayne Selden Jr. knocking down just 7 of 24 attempts from that area thus far.

Over the last two-plus seasons, the squad is 4-3 SUATS as underdogs, while the UNDER is 6-1 in that situation.

Plenty of Depth
Georgetown has nine players that average 13 minutes or more per game, which is important to consider when making your NCAA Basketball picks, with D’Vauntes Smith-Rivera leading the charge at 29.9.

The junior guard leads the team in scoring 14.4 points a contest, while he was also named the Big East Preseason Player of the Year and Wooden Award candidate.

It’s important to point out that the program is 4-3 SU and 6-1 ATS in its last seven opportunities against Big 12 Conference opponents.

A Missing Piece
The Jayhawks are going to be shorthanded at the Verizon Center for this high-profile matchup, as forward Jamari Traylor has been suspended for being arrested over the previous weekend for interfering with a police officer.

Traylor’s absence will make it more difficult for Kansas to guard Georgetown center Joshua Smith, who is an imposing figure inside the paint—averaging 12.7 points and 6.9 rebounds.

Solid Numbers
The Hoyas rank second in the Big East in shooting 50.1 percent from the field, while they sit behind just two teams in limiting opponents to 38.4 percent shooting through seven games.

Georgetown has also won its last 33 non-conference games at this venue, while it has proven victorious in its last three opportunities when facing a top-25 foe in that situation.

I’m going to recommend that readers back the Hoyas as one of their top basketball picks, as the Jayhawks are a dismal 8-13 ATS in their last 21 true road games.
