Kent St make the crosstown journey to face Akron. It’s a home court where the Zips are a perfect 12-0 SU this season and 56-5 SU L4Y. Preview my NCAA Basketball pick here.

Kent State Golden Flashes vs. Akron Zips
Will the Zips simply go through the motion or play with passion? That question was answered two Friday nights ago when Akron visited the MAC Center at Kent St. The Golden Flashes led wire to wire in an 85-76 win as 4 point home dog. As you will read in the ensuing paragraphs, that will be all the incentive that Akron needs.

At 10-7 SU in league play, that outing vs rival Akron was easily the Golden Flashes’ best of the season. A 7-2 SU home slate was acceptable, but the real problems came on the road, where since a late January loss at Ohio by a score of 72-61, the Flashes have gone 0-5 SU ATS with four of those losses by 9 or more points. That certainly bodes poorly for the visitor, as they are sure to face a fired up Akron team.

All that matters in the MAC is the results of next week’s CCT.

Betting Analysis
But before that story can be written, the #1 seeded Zips must put an exclamation point on their season with this momentum building home victory against their in city rival. The Zips followed that loss to Kent with an even more embarrassing 77-64 loss at Miami OH. But their previous two games have been nothing less than spectacular. Akron loves to shoot the three pointer; no one in the country has done it better than the Zips who, in winning over Bowling Green on this floor 89-54 and at Ohio by 91-76, have made 39/84 triples, an amazing level of proficiency for the volume of shots they took.

Under the tenure of 12th year HC Keith Dambrot, Akron has built a reputation as a momentum team. In fact, the Zips are 84-58 ATS in the game following a double digit victory, including 7-2 ATS in that role this season. In addition, they have built Rhodes Arena into a MAC fortress. Their long term record is 79-54 ATS on this court. With covers as home chalk in prices ranging from -4 to -12 in each of their five previous home games dating to January 23rd, only a 5 point victory vs Central Michigan has come by less than double digits.

With full motivation for the rivalry loss two weeks ago, look for the Zips to continue their barrage of three pointers and emerge with a comfortable double digit season ending victory as they continue to build steam for the upcoming MAC Tourney.

I invite you to put the NCAA basketball odds boards in your favor and join me for this revenge romp with my NCAA basketball picks on the Akron Zips.
