Our analyst shares his top two underdog NCAA basketball picks on Monday’s abbreviated card. He’s been a red-hot 6-1 with his underdog picks over the past three betting days.

Syracuse vs. North Carolina 7:00 PM ET
The NCAA Tournament hopes of Syracuse are hanging in the balance heading into this final week of regular season action. The Orange are currently 19-10 overall, and that includes a respectable 9-7 record in ACC action. After starting 0-4 in conference play, Syracuse has rebounded to go 9-3 during its last 12. They do have one more game remaining at Florida State as well, but an upset win on the road against the highly ranked Tar Heels would virtually clinch a spot in “The Big Dance”.

It would assure them of a 20 win season, clinch a winning record in conference play, and be a huge asset in terms of its postseason resume. Of course, that’s easier said than done. However, the degree of urgency is certainly in their favor, and that lends itself to betting value considering the sizable underdog number. They’ll also be playing with revenge stemming from an 11 point home loss to North Carolina earlier this season.

North Carolina is clearly the deeper and more talented team in this matchup. That’s nothing new considering that’s been the case in the vast majority of Tar Heels games this season. Unfortunately, that hasn’t always translated to cashing winning tickets. As a matter of fact, North Carolina is just 4-8 ATS during their last twelve games.

I’m not prepared to go out on a limb and predict a huge upset win for Syracuse on Monday. I am confident in their ability to stay inside this enormous number, and one of my Monday NCAA basketball picks will indicate just that.

Kansas vs. Texas 9:00 PM ET
Texas will be out to revenge a 9 point loss at Kansas in the first meeting between these BIG-12 Conference rivals. That game was much closer than the final score indicates. The Longhorns are a perfect 3-0 SU&ATS this season when playing with same season revenge. The latest of those wins in that exact situation came at home against Oklahoma on Saturday. Texas is also a very good 7-1 in conference home games this season. It’s been a remarkable turnaround under first year head coach Shaka Smart. The former head man at VCU has plenty of experience as a big game underdog from his tenure with the Rams. It will pay dividends in preparing his club for a significant challenge this evening.

Kansas enters tonight on a sizzling hot nine game win streak, and that includes an extremely profitable 8-1 ATS during that stretch. Here’s the thing, they just clinched their twelfth straight BIG-12 regular season title on Saturday at home with a win over Texas Tech. Now they’re required to travel while playing on just one day rest, against a quality opponent in a hostile environment, and with very little to play for at this juncture other than possibly a #1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. I’m going to put myself out there, and predict this will be a flat spot for the Jayhawks. Kansas hasn’t been totally invincible in conference road games this season, based on losses at Oklahoma State, Iowa State, and West Virginia.

Current NCAA basketball odds boards at Pinnacle indicates that Kansas is a 2.0 point favorite in this contest. That’s quite an adjustment from the first time these teams met, and they were a 12.0 point chalk. With no pun intended, I can read between the lines.
