DePaul vs. Villanova
The 3rd ranked Villanova Wildcats (25-4, 14-2) lost their number one ranking over the weekend, but still have a chance at a #1 seed in the NCAA Tournament if they win out in the regular season. For that reason, don’t expect Villanova to rest on their laurels as they host one of the worst teams in the Big East Conference, the DePaul Blue Demons (9-19, 3-13). These teams met earlier in the month of February, with Villanova spanking DePaul by a score of 86-59. That combined score of 145 went over the posted total of 138 for the game. In this matchup, the O/U total is set a tad bit higher at 140 at BookMaker while the Wildcats are favored by 23.5 points at home on the NCAA basketball odds board.

For this game to go over the total, we need DePaul to score at least 60 points. Even though they are the worst scoring team in the Big East they have failed to score 60 points in just 4 of their 28 games this year, and average 66.4 points per game on the road. One of those four games was the one mentioned above against Villanova, but the total still went over 138 because the Wildcats scored 86 points. DePaul has a trend of going over the total coming into this game, with 8 of the last 9 games going over the listed total

Villanova scores an average of 80.6 points per game at home on 47.4% shooting from the floor. They also have a trend coming into this game where the last four have gone over the listed total. Villanova has scored an average of 83 points per game in those four, and that includes three games on the road. Their offense is really humming and must be licking their chops to go against DePaul that has allowed 81.5 points per game in their last six. Take over 140 in this game at BookMaker as Villanova’s offense can’t help but to score more than 80 points against DePaul.

Baylor vs. Oklahoma
In a Big 12 matchup between two ranked foes, the 6th ranked Oklahoma Sooners (22-6, 10-6) host the 19th ranked Baylor Bears (21-8, 10-6) in a game that can be seen on ESPN2. These teams last met in late January, with Oklahoma winning 82-72 as a 1-point road underdog. The combined total of 154 went over the listed total of 150. For this game, the bar is raised to 151 at sites such as BookMaker.

That first game went over the total, but Oklahoma is not likely to repeat the offensive showing that they had in this next game. Oklahoma shot 62% from field goal range in the first game, and had 16 3-pointers while shooting 57.1% from behind the arc. I mean, Oklahoma is one of the better offensive teams in the country, but they still only average 45.8% from the floor per game this year, and 46.9% per game at home. For Baylor’s part, they converted at just about their season average in putting up 72 points in that first game.

We have two opposing trends coming into tonight, with Baylor games going over the total in 8 of their last 10 games. On the other hand, Oklahoma games have cashed the under in each of the last six games. I’m backing the Oklahoma trend, as I don’t think the pace that these two teams play at can get over this total without another unreal shooting performance by one of the teams. Take under 151 at BookMaker as one of your Tuesday NCAA Basketball Picks.
