The two best teams in the Pac-12 made it into Saturday’s championship game. Should you have the No. 1 Oregon Ducks or the No. 2 Arizona Wildcats in your NCAAB picks?

After gorging for the past three days on Pac-12 basketball, I can tell you this: The right two teams made it into Saturday’s Tournament final (11:00 p.m. ET, ESPN). And it’s not just because the top two seeds are playing. The No. 1 Oregon Ducks and the No. 2 Arizona Wildcats performed at a higher level than the competition. Either one could make the Final Four once March Madness rolls around.

First things first. Saturday’s game in Las Vegas should be a close one; the Ducks (29-4 SU, 19-13 ATS) and Wildcats (29-4 SU, 17-14-2 ATS) finished the Pac-12 schedule tied at 16-2 SU, and there isn’t much daylight between the two teams in the rankings.

Oregon: No. 5 AP, No. 5 Coaches, No. 16 Pomeroy
Arizona: No. 7 AP, No. 7 Coaches, No. 22 Pomeroy

Ken Pomeroy’s efficiency stats say the Ducks are just a hair over two points better than ‘Zona per 100 possessions. Sports-Reference has the margin a bit wider at 3.1 points per game, using their Simple Rating System. The NCAAB odds for Saturday’s game have yet to be published as we go to press, but we’re guessing this game comes out as a pick ‘em or close to it, which would give Oregon at least a smidge of betting value.

These two teams only got to face each other once during the regular season, and it was a cakewalk for the Ducks, 85-58 as 3.5-point home faves. We probably won’t see an ass-whuppin’ like that on Saturday; Oregon shot 16-of-25 from long range, or 64 percent, which is a whole lot of percent. But the Ducks out-played Arizona on defense, too. We’ll happily recommend them for your college basketball picks assuming the odds come out as expected.
