Once again Kansas sits atop of the Big 12 looking for another title, but today they have been made a small road underdog traveling to Baylor. A few weeks back these two clashed with the Jayhawks coming out with the home win, can they beat Baylor for the second time this year?

Kansas Jayhawks

Kansas has only lost twice this season in the Big 12 but what has my radar up today is the fact that they barely escaped on the road against bottom of the league competition in Kansas State and Texas Tech. All due respect to those two programs whose records don’t reflect how good they really are, but on a neutral floor Baylor is better than both of those teams. Under Bill Self Kansas continues to be the top dog in the league and they have the statistics to back it up averaging 83.5 points per game and shooting 48.9% from the floor ranking them 13th and 10th in the country respectively. They complement their scoring offense with a statistically tough defense allowing opponents to shoot just 41.8% overall and only 44.4% on opponent’s two-point shots. All that being said though I think this is a very difficult situation for them considering the fact they can lose this game and still have a very good chance to win the league. As well, they won’t get the home cooking like they did in their earlier matchup getting to the line 27 times compared to Baylor’s six.

Baylor Bears

It seems to me that Baylor got caught like some college teams do look ahead to a matchup and not handling business as they lost to Texas Tech on the road. Tonight though they should be laser focused on getting revenge against Kansas considering that they probably should've won the last time they matched up at Allen fieldhouse. In that matchup, they got more attempts than Kansas and shot a bit better overall percentagewise as well as being deadlocked with them in turnovers and rebounds. I thought they got a little bit snake bit with Kansas shooting lights out from beyond the arc and getting to the line is much as they did, as mentioned. This is a very good Baylor team that is extremely good on the defensive side allowing opponents to shoot just 39.1% overall. Also, they rank 10th and 11th in the country in opponent shooting efficiency and effective field-goal percentage respectively. This is not a real big number and I expect for Baylor to play one of the best games of the year winning this game by over five points.

NCAA Basketball Odds

Oddsmakers have come out making Baylor a -2.5 favorite and for my NCAA basketball pick I will take them in this spot. This is a good revenge game for them and I like how they matchup with Kansas. The Jayhawks lose this one but most likely will still win the Big 12.
