The Baylor Bears have never won in Ames, IA, but they may stay within the number when taking on the Iowa State Cyclones Tuesday night. Find out where we have decided to look with our NCAA Basketball picks in this evening's matchup.

Let’s take a closer look at the college basketball odds for this Big 12 Conference matchup at the Hilton Coliseum, with the opening tip scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET on ESPN2.

Solid resume

Baylor has played just seven lined opponents in putting together a 12-1 SU record, but it does have victories over the Colorado Buffaloes, Dayton Flyers and Kentucky Wildcats on a neutral floor.

It’s important to point out that the program has dropped all five of its opportunities when playing in battles of top-10 teams.

Over the last two-plus seasons, the Bears are 13-10 SU and 11-11 ATS on the road, with the OVER going 11-9 in that situation.

Iowa State became just the seventh school in Big 12 history to enter conference play undefeated, as it has won 13 consecutive games—matching the longest winning streak in school history.

The Cyclones have enjoyed success on the floor due to their balanced roster—being one of just seven programs with three players averaging 15 or more points per game.

Over the last two-plus seasons, the school is a dominating 39-3 SU and 28-13-1 ATS as a favorite, with the UNDER going 16-15 in that situation.

Deep roster with a lot to overcome

College basketball handicappers will definitely be interested in backing the road underdog, considering the Bears have nine players averaging 14-plus minutes of playing time.

Baylor’s deep roster is definitely up against it in this particular matchup, with the school losing all 11 previous meetings in Ames, IA, with the average margin of defeat being 13.2 points.

Getting to the free throw line

One of the key things to watch in this affair is the Cyclones ability to get to the free throw line, as they’ve averaged 28.4 trips in their last nine games.

Iowa State may have trouble reaching that type of number Tuesday, with Baylor doing a great job of playing defense this season without fouling.

I’ve developed a handicapper line favoring the Cyclones by 6.5 points, which means that I will be adding the Bears to my college basketball picks at the higher number at Pinnacle Sportsbook.
