The Oregon Ducks (9-2) travel to Birmingham to take on the Alabama Crimson Tide (7-2). How should we place our NCAA Basketball picks in this intriguing game?

NCAA Basketball Pick: Oregon -6.5
Best Line Offered: at Heritage

Oregon Ducks
The Ducks got off to a 6-0 start but they have lost two of their last five games, falling to 9-2 on the season. However, excluding an 80-69 loss against UNLV, Oregon has been consistently competitive in every game, including their heart-breaking 74-72 setback at Boise State.

Oregon averages 77.5 points per game and they shoot 45.8 percent from the field. Defensively they allow just 65.7 points and their opponents shoot 39.7 percent. The Ducks have five players that score in double figures, including Dillon Brooks, who leads the team with 15.9 points per game. He also pulls down 6.8 rebounds per game. Tyler Dorsey averages 14.4 points per game and Elgin Cook adds 14.1 points.

Alabama Crimson Tide
The Crimson Tide lost two of their first four games before winning five straight to improve to 7-2. Most of their games have been very close, as six of their wins were by less than 10 points, but NCAA Basketball odds makers still favor Oregon by 6.5 points.

Alabama scores just 66.0 points per game while shooting 43.4 percent from the floor and they might have a hard time containing Oregon, which is why they need their stellar defense (66.6 points allowed per game) to step up, just like in last Wednesday's 72-60 win against Winthrop. Retin Obasohan leads the Crimson Tide with 13.9 points per game while Shannon Hale adds 12.9 points and 3.6 assists.

Betting Trends
Oregon is 5-3-1 ATS this season, 5-3-1 ATS vs. non-conference opponents and 5-0 ATS on 2 days rest while Alabama is 5-3 ATS in all games but they're just 1-3 ATS on 3+ days rest.

Final Analysis
I like the Ducks -6 for one of my NCAA Basketball picks. Oregon's balanced offense and their ability to play as a unit in tough environments makes them a very dangerous team and they will find a way to decipher the Alabama defense and withstand the Tide in the Vulcan Classic.
