After having the weekend off, Wisconsin is a double-digit favorite on the college basketball odds in a Big Ten rivalry matchup against the Michigan Wolverines on Tuesday night.

During the college football season, the Big Ten boasted of being the best conference in the land, a claim that seemed validated when the league placed four teams into the New Year's Six bowl games. The gridiron greatness hasn't been followed up with hardwood prowess, however, with only three teams in the rankings and none in the Top 10.

The highest-ranked squad from the Big Ten, Wisconsin at No. 17, will try and change some of that perception Tuesday night when the Badgers host Michigan. ESPN will broadcast the contest from Madison beginning at 9 p.m. ET, packed Kohl Center crowd expected to be on hand to cheer on U-Dubya, and the sportsbooks believe they'll go home happy. The Badgers are listed -10 or -10½ depending on where one shops for their college hoops lines, BetOnline carrying 131 for the total.

UW Takes Aim At 17th Straight Home Win

Michigan (12-6 straight up, 4-11 against the spread) continues to wallow in the early conference standings with just two victories among the first five games. It has been even worse for bettors playing the Wolverines on the NCAA basketball odds, where they haven't cashed a ticket the last six trips to the floor.

John Beilein's boys continue to shoot well on the offensive end, connecting on 47.6% of their field goals, which is good enough for 36th in the country. That has helped send the last nine Michigan games 'over' the totals.

A chance to catch Maryland at the top of the Big Ten is on the line for Wisconsin (14-3 SU, 9-5 ATS). The Badgers, who are a perfect 9-0 at home and own a 16-game win streak at Kohl dating to last season, had the weekend off after topping Ohio State at home last Thursday with an easy 89-66 win as 10-point chalk. Prior to that, the Badgers were on the road and split two games with a win at Indiana in a pick 'em and 66-55 loss at Purdue as 2-point underdogs.

1st Of 2 Meetings In Rivalry This Season

The last four meetings, and 17 of the last 20, have gone Wisconsin's way, but it's Michigan with the 88-73 all-time lead in the series as the two schools prepare for their 162nd matchup. They'll meet a second time about a month from now in Ann Arbor. Last year's lone contest was played in Madison, where the Badgers scored a 68-57 decision as 5½-point favorites. That game stayed comfortably 'under' a 134-point total to halt a 2-game run for 'over' winners in the rivalry. Home teams are 7-3 ATS in the last 10 clashes, underdogs cashing 13 of the last 16.

Greg Gard's gang has been tough to score on in Madison, the Badgers holding their last five opponents to 51.6 PPG in the last five and only one of those sides eclipsing 40% in the shooting column. Couple that with one of the most efficient offenses in the country, and it adds up to a willingness to lay the points for my free NCAA basketball pick. Season record: 22-22-1 (-2.20).
