The Ohio State Buckeyes and Wisconsin Badgers have both fallen on hard times recently, as they prepare to right the ship against each other Saturday. We preview this matchup and share our thought as to how this game should fit into out NCAA Basketball picks.

Let’s take a closer look at the NCAA basketball odds for this Big Ten Conference matchup at the Kohl Center, with the opening tip scheduled for 12:00 p.m. ET on ESPN.

Troubling times

Ohio State is 1-5 SUATS over its last six games, as it attempts to bounce back from a 71-70 overtime defeat to the Penn State Nittany Lions as 13-point home favorites Wednesday, while going OVER the betting total for the first time in four contests.

The Buckeyes are shooting just 39.9 percent from the floor over their last five contests, while they’ve knocked down just 24.2 percent of their attempts from beyond the arc on the road during the 2013-14 campaign.

Shocking loss

Wisconsin saw its 14-game home winning streak against Northwestern come to an end Wednesday, as it dropped a 65-56 decision as 17-point favorites, while going UNDER the betting total for a second consecutive affair.

In 13 seasons under head coach Bo Ryan, the Badgers are a remarkable 191-20 SU at this venue, including a 33-11 mark versus ranked foes.

Series history

College basketball handicappers will find that the favorite has covered the number in eight of the last nine meetings in this series, but it’s important to point out that the Buckeyes captured two of three against the Badgers a season ago.

Ohio State shot just 41.8 percent from the floor versus Wisconsin during the 2012-13 campaign—leading directly to the UNDER cashing in two of those three contests.

Keep an eye on the standings

The Badgers have never finished lower than fourth in the Big Ten standings during the Ryan era, which can’t be ignored when making your college basketball picks with both teams located in the middle of the pack.

Wisconsin will benefit in playing this game on its home floor, considering its just a few weeks removed from putting together the best start in school history with 16 wins to open the season.

I’m going to recommend that readers back the Badgers with their NCAA Basketball picks, as the home team has covered the number in seven of the last nine meetings in this rivalry.

Wisconsin has plenty of perimeter weapons on the offensive end, which will make things tough on Ohio State and star point guard Aaron Craft.

Recommendation:  Wisconsin Badgers
