Kentucky Wildcats

With two of the four top seeds eliminated on Friday, the SEC Basketball Tournament will take on distinct home court flavor which will makes two teams very difficult to beat Saturday afternoon. (7-3 ATS Record to date)

#5 Alabama vs. #1 Kentucky

Kentucky (27-5, 16-15 ATS) went about their business and despite an off shooting game by almost every Wildcats player other than Isaiah Briscoe and De'Aaron Fox, thanks to holding Georgia to 33.3 percent shooting, they advanced. In this contest, Kentucky opened as a 10.5 point favorite and coach John Calipari's club will need to show patience because Alabama will doing everything to avoid making this a full court game and will only run when they have advantage numbers-wise. That does not mean the Wildcats will not try and quicken the pace, of course they will and if they can build a double digit lead in the first half, it would seem like twice that to the Crimson Tide, who are not built to comeback from big deficits. Kentucky should win and cover, but to beat the spread, they will have to do better than yesterday's 20-for-33 from the charity stripe.

Alabama (19-13, 16-15 ATS) vanquished South Carolina by 11, thanks to great defense and gigantic +15 rebounding edge. For the Tide to cover, they will be sharp in several areas. Bama has to win the rebounding battle on both ends of the floor. Alabama is not a not a good three-point shooting team at about 32 percent, yet needs one those games where they connect on nine or more and at well over 40 percent. Lastly, the Crimson Tide will have to overcome large contingent of Big Blue fans, because if they fall behind early, it will feel like a Kentucky home game. For college basketball picks, it's Kentucky or nothing in my opinion.
