The Matadors have had to deal with a daunting first set of games, which is rounded out by a game against Arizona. Do we think the Wildcats will cover the massive college basketball odds spread?

Odds Overview
Fresh off a dominant regular season opener, the Wildcats find themselves tasked with another humungous spread to try and cover for backers.

At time of writing, Arizona was favored by 25.5 points on the NCAA basketball odd, with a sportsbook here and there sprinkling in a line of 26. For those wishing to make a play on CS Northridge, that extra half point could make all the difference in the world. No total had been made public when this article was penned.

Arizona Wildcats
The Wildcats were a force to be reckoned with last year, and it appears nothing will change in 2014-15.

In their opener, Arizona topped Mount Saint Mary's 78-55, shooting 57.4 percent from the field overall. They forced twice as many turnovers (16) as they had themselves (eight), and that's an encouraging sign this early on in the season.

Individually, Brandon Ashley had 21 points and six boards in 28 minutes of play - he hit on 9-of-10 from the field. Then there was Kaleb Tarczewski, who had 10 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks in the win. Rondae Hollis-Jefferson came off the bench to score 15 points in only 21 minutes, and he added four rebounds, three steals and two blocks to the cause.

It was just a taste of what's to come from the Wildcats this season. They've been labeled early on as a serious contender for a title, and we can see why.

They've got senior T.J. McConnell running the point, along with other experienced options like Tarczewski, Ashley, Hollis-Jefferson and Gabe York. Throw in a highly-touted freshman in Stanley Johnson (five-star recruit), and you've got yourself a recipe for success. This is going to be a dominant team this season, few will argue that.

CS Northridge Matadors
A rough first half all but ended the Matadors' hopes of staying close with San Diego State in their season opener. They would go on to lose 79-58.

CS Northridge was held to 41.4 percent shooting and simply couldn't get consistent looks at the basket due to the Aztecs' high pressure. The Matadors committed 17 turnovers in the loss.

Stephan Hicks and Stephen Maxwell were the only two CS Northridge players to score in double figures. They combined for 31 of the team's 58 points, with Maxwell helping out with 10 rebounds as well. Guard Aaron Parks struggled, only hitting 2-of-8 shots for nine points in 34 minutes of action.

Maxwell and Hicks led the team in scoring last season, and should be carrying the load again tonight. But, how much success will the duo have against Arizona's excellent defense? That remains to be seen, but we're not expecting much.

It's hard to get much of a read on CS Northridge, as they didn't really play any tough competition last season, and it's tough to judge them based on one game against a good Aztecs team. We're interested to see how they cope in another immensely difficult challenge.

NCAA Basketball Pick
We're going to roll with the Wildcats until they give us a reason not to.

We love the makeup of this team this season and think they're going to be making some serious noise come March. It's still early, and there will be bumps along the way, but it's hard to see many weaknesses to this Arizona team. They seemingly have everything needed to be a championship team.

Though the game will be on a neutral court, we don't think the Wildcats will have much trouble with the Matadors. Their defensive intensity and pure talent on the other side of the court should translate into another blowout win. Back Arizona to cover the big number for your NCAA basketball picks.
