Georgetown University was once a dominating force in College Basketball, but lately, the Hoyas have fallen near the bottom of their Big East conference and just parted ways with 13-year Head Coach John Thompson III. Let’s take a look and offer up a logical prop pick on who will be the next coach.

BookMaker Offering Next Georgetown Basketball Head Coach Proposition Bet

As we wait for Saturday’s Final Four to provide us with our two combatants in this year's Men's Division I Basketball Championship game, let’s take a look at a fresh and unique Props offering from BookMaker on who the Georgetown University basketball program will hire to be its next Head Coach. After 13 seasons, the Hoyas parted ways with John Thompson III—whose father, John Thompson, Jr., went 596-239 over 27 seasons at Georgetown, leading the Hoyas to a national title in 1984.

Thompson III went 278-151 and made the NCAA Tournament eight times in his tenure at the Washington, DC campus with Georgetown going 14-18 (5-15 Big East) this season, seeing LJ Peak declare for the NBA Draft and top recruit Tremont Waters ask for a release on his Letter Of Intent, leaving a bare cupboard for whomever the university hires.

Early King Rice Steam (Sounds Like Chinese Dish)

It’s been just four days since Georgetown decided to move on from Thompson III and in this unique market, former North Carolina PG and now Monmouth HC King Rice (+598) has seen his odds move down 152 cents on speculation (and betting) while the price on the “Field” has dropped 22 cents from +200 to its current +178.

Former Duke G and current Harvard HC Tommy Amaker (+328) has enjoyed success in the Ivy league and may opt to stay with the Crimson while former Indiana HC Tom Crean (+477) just doesn’t seem like the right fit and may not want to get involved in what looks to be a rebuilding project in a tough conference that includes Villanova, Xavier, Butler, Creighton, and Marquette.

Frank Martin (+702) is having much success at South Carolina (+695 to win NCAA Championship, BookMaker) and may reap some financial rewards while former Georgetown legend Patrick Ewing (+516)—whom Stan van Gundy is supporting—actually seems like a perfect fit although the former Hoyas C needs experience. And like Martin, Richard Pitino (+1365) has enjoyed success at his school, Minnesota, and may prefer life in the Land of 10,000 Lakes over DC.
