Their rotation thinned with the injury to Anfernee McLemore, the No. 12 Auburn Tigers look to even the season series with rival Alabama as home favorites on the NCAA basketball odds.

No. 12 Auburn has control of the SEC, the surprising Tigers holding a 2-game lead at the top of the ranks over an equally unforeseen Tennessee team. Bruce Pearl’s side even holds the tiebreaker over his former Volunteers if seeding for the conference tourney comes down to that. Still, it could all come unraveled for an Auburn team that just lost one of its top defenders for the rest of the season, making Wednesday night’s battle against the rival Alabama Crimson Tide even more crucial.

You’ll need a ticket into Auburn Arena or the SEC Network to view this 8:30 PM (ET) tip, the Tigers looking to avenge a loss five weeks ago while the Tide are in search of their first season sweep in the rivalry since 2015. Bookmaker has Auburn -7½ with 157 for the total.

’Over’ Bettors Paid Off 3 Of Last 4 Meetings At Auburn

Alabama posted a mild 76-71 upset in mid-January when the Crimson Tide were getting 5 points at home on the NCAA basketball odds. Avery Johnson’s troops overcame a 3-point halftime deficit with a 13-4 run early in the second half and were aggressive on defense, where they blocked eight shots and came away with an equal number of steals. The Tigers swept last year’s meetings, running away with a 20-point win at home, where the ‘over’ has cashed 3 of 4 to go against an overall ‘under’ trend in recent years (4-10 O/U).

Alabama was without leading scorer and freshman point guard Collin Sexton due to an abdominal injury in the previous matchup, so don’t expect the Crimson Tide to feel sorry for Auburn having to play this game without Anfernee McLemore. He went down with a horrible injury in the Tigers’ 84-75 loss at South Carolina this past Saturday and will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing ankle surgery. The sophomore was leading the SEC with 73 blocks and recorded three double-doubles before the injury.

Tide 3-11 O/U In Conference Clashes

Alabama is just 5-4 since upsetting Auburn, and also coming off a defeat this past weekend when the trip to Kentucky ended in an 81-71 setback. It was the second straight road loss for the Crimson Tide and fifth in seven SEC matchups outside Tuscaloosa. Though they’re not reliant on the 3-point shot, a big problem in all of their losses can be traced to how poorly the Tide performed beyond the arc, making just 6 of 24 attempts at Kentucky.

Auburn’s depth has been a key factor in getting to the top of the conference, so replacing McLemore’s 19+ minutes won’t be easy. I’m going to take ‘Bama plus the points for my free college basketball pick.
