Temple could receive a boost from a key transfer against Duke Friday night, which means that college basketball bettors could be in a prime spot to pick up an underdog at a good price tonight at the Barclays Center.

Exceeding Lofty Expectations
Duke has won and covered the number in its first three games of the 2014-15 campaign, which is important to consider when looking over the college basketball odds, as it comes off a 81-71 victory over the Michigan State Spartans as eight-point neutral-site favorites Tuesday.

The Blue Devils have shot over 50 percent from the field in all three games and currently rank fourth in the country with a .602 field goal percentage.

Over the last two-plus seasons, the program is 16-2 SU and 11-7 ATS in November, with no clear edge in terms of the betting total (7-7 Over/Under).

A Good Start
Temple also enters this high-profile matchup with an unblemished record, as it has won both of its games to open up the year, including a solid 82-75 victory over Louisiana Tech as five-point home underdogs Monday night.

The Owls will need to start knocking down shots at a consistent rate in hopes of staying competitive in this affair, as they rank 317th nationally in effective field goal percentage, while the Blue Devils trail just two teams in that category.

It’s important to point out that the squad is 9-22 SU and 18-12-1 ATS as underdogs since the start of the 2012-13 campaign.

Young Talent
The Blue Devils have a great opportunity to improve to 11-1 SU in their last 12 meetings in this series, as their top-rated freshmen class of Grayson Allen, Tyus Jones, Jahlil Okafor and Justise Winslow are averaging 54.4 points per game while shooting 64.9 percent from the floor.

Okafor is averaging a team-high 17.7 points on 25-of-30 shooting from the field, while the team has scored 94 points off 48 opponent turnovers through three games.

Key Transfer
The Owls were hoping that three key transfers could provide a lift to the program entering the year, but only Jaylen Bond is eligible to do so at this point, but he’s missed the first two games due to an ankle injury.

Bond started his collegiate career at Texas and head coach Fran Dunphy needs him on the floor to create plays on the defensive end.

I’m going to recommend that readers add the Owls to their NCAA Basketball picks tonight, as they’ve gone 10-4 ATS in their last 14 games versus ACC opponents.

Sports bettors should monitor Bond’s status throughout the day, as he has a chance to be a difference maker on the court.
