NCAA Basketball Pick: Providence Friars +7.5

Best Line Offered at: Heritage

Tip-off is set for 2:30 p.m. EST this afternoon at the Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana.. According to 5Dimes, the Bulldogs are a 7 point betting favorite on the NCAA Basketball odds board and the total for the game is listed at 150.

Efficieny At It's Best
Butler ranks 2nd in the nation in efficiency as they average 89.9 points per game, 51.2% from the field shooting, and a mere 9.8 turnovers commited per game.

With numbers such as these, you now know why they're a top 10 squad. The real test, as always, comes into play in inter-conference play, but it surely looks like Butler has a shot at the National Championship. This is a team that's used to being a Cinderella team at the Big Dance and upsetting teams. This season, they are the hunted as teams are chasing them.

Kellen Dunham and Roosevelt Jones
Both of these players are the catalysts to the Bulldogs successful season thus far. Dunham leads the team in scoring at 15.6 points and 93.8% from the charity stripe while Roosevelt Jones is a Charles Barkley sized 6 foot 4, 225 pound forward that can do it all.

Jones is averaging 13.8 points, 7.8 rebounds, 5 assists, and 1.6 steals per game. The only weakness to his game is his free throw shooting, but if the game is close, Dunham will have the ball in his hands as he's automatic from the line.

Even players less heralded such as Jordan Gathers play a major role on this squad. Gathers, along with bringing senior experience, is a 46.4% 3-point shooter.

He only averages 15 minutes per game, but he makes every minute count. In his last 4 games, he's 10 for 16 from beyond the arc and in his last 2 games, he's a sizzling 6 for 7. Basically, Butler is a well -rounded team that can do it all and will put Providence to the test as Hinkle Fieldhouse can get very loud.

"One and Dunn"
I'm not referring to the freshman that leave after one year of college, I'm referring to leading scorer Ben Bentil (18 points, 8 rebounds) and junior Kris Dunn. This team is very top heavy with the starters doing the brunt of the work. Kris Dunn is having a monster season as he's a multi-faceted basketball player.

For the season, Dunn is averaging a whopping 16.5 points, 7.3 assists, 6.1 rebounds, and 3.2 steals per game. This is a player that will give Butler a run for their money with his top-level defense and he also has the ability to keep up with the Bulldogs scoring-wise. He's somewhat of the Roosevelt Jones of the Friars. This game has excitement written all over it, but we're looking at it from a betting aspect.

Providence possesses a great defense and has a win over the Arizona Wildcats to their credit. Beating Butler on the road would be asking a lot, but the Friars should be able to keep this game within 7 points for our NCAA Basketball picks.
