The Georgetown Hoyas have been known to play strong defense at the Verizon Center, which could cause some problems for the Creighton Bluejays Tuesday night. We look to the spread with our NCAA Basketball picks in tonight's matchup.

Let’s take a closer look at the college basketball odds for this Big East Conference matchup, with the opening tip scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET on Fox Sports 1.

Trying to get back on track

Creighton had its four-game winning streak snapped last time out, as it suffered a 75-69 defeat to the Xavier Musketeers as 2.5-point road favorites, while going OVER the betting total for the third time in four affairs.

The Bluejays have lost once in each month of the season so far, which is important to consider when looking over the SBR Odds page.

College basketball handicappers will find that the team is 4-3 SU and 3-4 ATS as road favorites of 3.5 to 6 points since the start of the 2011-12 campaign.

Game of the year

Georgetown doesn’t have much of a chance of landing in the field for the upcoming NCAA Tournament, which makes this the program’s biggest game of the 2013-14 campaign.

The Hoyas dropped a 76-63 decision to the Bluejays as 12-point road underdogs in the first meeting on March 1, while going OVER the betting total for the third time in four contests.

Over the last two-plus seasons, the program is 8-3 SU and 10-1 ATS when revenging a road loss versus an opponent.

The Bluejays are worthy road favorites against any team in the conference due to the play of forward Doug McDermott, who paces the country in averaging 26.0 points per game.

McDermott was held to 14 points in the first meeting versus Georgetown—his second-lowest total of the season.

A lot to like

The Hoyas will be celebrating Senior Night before the ball goes up in the air, with the brightest spotlight shining on guard Markel Starks, who is averaging 17 points and three assists per game.

Georgetown is also allowing opponents to shoot just 38 percent from the field when playing at home, which has led to surrendering just 61.7 points per game in that situation.

I’m going to recommend that readers back the Hoyas as one of their college basketball picks, as I developed a handicapper line favoring the Bluejays by just 1.5 points.

Sports bettors may want to wait to back the home underdog just before tip, considering that Creighton is going to be backed heavily by the regular betting public.
