Points should be put up at a staggering pace in this evening's battle between BYU and Gonzaga, but we believe there's a bigger edge in the college basketball betting lines elsewhere.

Odds Overview
Though the NCAA basketball odds have a spread of 5 or 5.5 for the taking, most of the sites have 6 on the board right now, with Gonzaga acting as the road favorite. These are two of the most prolific offenses in the country, so we can expect an extremely high total once it's posted.

BYU Cougars
Since dropping their first home game of the season against Utah, the Cougars have responded by winning three straight games, topped off by a hard-fought victory over UMass a few days back.

It wasn't easy by any stretch of the imagination, but BYU made enough plays down the stretch to get the win. Kyle Collinsworth and Anson Winder were the highlights for the Cougars, as Collinsworth went for 18 points, 15 rebounds, four assists and three steals, while Winder exploded for 25 points off the bench. That made up for a quiet game out of Tyler Haws, who was held to just four points on the day.

It's easy to see how BYU has enjoyed another fine start to their season. They're scoring a ridiculous 88.0 points per game on average, which is the highest mark in all of college basketball. Haws leads the way with an average of 22.3 points per game, but there are three other guys (Winder, Fischer and Collinsworth) that are averaging in double figures as well. This team is as formidable offensively as they come.

Gonzaga Bulldogs
The Bulldogs know a thing or two about efficiency on the offensive end of the court. They're averaging a healthy 83.7 points per game and are second in the country in field goal percentage (53.6 percent), so they should be able to hang with the home team this evening, in spite of what should be a noisy environment.

Gonzaga has just one loss on the year (to Arizona), and has managed four consecutive wins after that loss to the Wildcats. Kyle Wiltjer, Byron Wesley, Domantas Sabonis, Kevin Pangos and Przemek Karnowski are all averaging double-digit scoring for the team, so it's been hard for opposing teams to gameplan. You never really know who's going to step up and take charge on any given day.

It's going to take a total team effort to get the job done this evening though. The Bulldogs have already been challenged quite a bit this season, but they're going to have to be at their best to get this straight up win on the road at BYU. These two squads know each other well, and are going to be going all out.

NCAA Basketball Pick
Both teams rank in the top 11 when it comes to points scored per game, with BYU ranking first in the entire nation in that area. With so many guys who know how to put points on the board, it wouldn't surprise us to see the total end up OVER the posted number, regardless of the high O/U.

But, we like the price on BYU at home a little more when it comes to our favorite NCAA basketball picks. The Cougars are going to get a big-time backing from their supporters this evening. They've lost just one time at home this season and that was against a strong Utah program (by four points).

We never love going against Gonzaga, but this is most likely going to be a hard-fought game, which makes the points all the more appealing. With a good shot at an outright victory, we believe there to be appetizing value on the Cougars on their own floor here on Saturday night. Enjoy what should be a back-and-forth shootout!
