Purdue has been very impressive this Regular Season and the Boilermakers will take a 14-game Win Streak into Iowa City in Big Ten play against the Hawkeyes who find themselves in the rare betting role of double-digit Home Underdogs on Saturday.

FINAL SCORE PREDICTION: Purdue 84 Iowa 69NCAA BASKETBALL SATURDAY PICK: Purdue -11½Best Line Offered: at BetOnlineOdds Overview

#3 Purdue at Iowa (ESPN, 12 pm ET/9 am PT): Vince Edwards and #3-ranked Purdue (18-2 SU, 7-0 in Big Ten) head to Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City to face Iowa (10-10 SU, 1-6 in Big Ten) in an early starting Big 10 Conference matchup on Saturday. On Friday afternoon, Offshore sportsbooks opened up Purdue as solid 11½-point Road Favorites over the host Hawkeyes. The Boilermakers will head in on a steam-train 14-game SU Win Streak while Iowa have L4-5 SU and just one SU Conference Win (@ ILL, OT).

#3 Purdue Boilermakers

Old Gold and Black-clad Purdue and esteemed 13th-year Head Coach Matt Painter are playing the best basketball it has in a very long time, rising to #3 in some national poll rankings in the midst of this current 14-game Win Streak (10-4 ATS) and looking like a potential force to be reckoned with come Big Dance time in around two months. Sportsbooks had the Boilermakers set as high 14-point Home Favorites in their last game on Tuesday against Wisconsin at Home at Mackey Arena in West Lafayette, Indiana, but Purdue easily won SU and ATS in a 78-50 final in their 5th straight game which went Under the closing Total (134) and saw the hosts jump out to a 39-21 lead at Halftime. Carsen Edwards (21 points) and Vince Edwards (20 points) were the Boilermakers leading scorers and Purdue (13-6 ATS) shot a blistering 63.6% from 3-point range (14-22). The Boilermakers have W9 of their last 10 games by at least 10 points, with a 1-point 70-69 win against Michigan in Ann Arbor the lone exception.

PJ Thompson (1.8 spg) and Purdue have gone a very profitable 38-18-8 its L59 games overall (67.9%) and 12-2-2 in its L14 Saturday dribbles but the Boilermakers are just 1-7 ATS their L8 trips to Iowa City, including a SU and ATS last season in this spot in the Hawkeye State, 83-78 as 6-point Home Underdogs (153). The Under is 5-0 the L5 Purdue games overall and 6-0 its L6 vs the Big Ten dates but the Under is 7-3 in the Boilermakers L10 Road games and Iowa may look to slow the Pace to try to keep it close.

Iowa Hawkeyes

Eighth-year Head Coach Fran McCaffery and Iowa (6-8-2 ATS) have seen better days and Tyler Cook (14.8 ppg), Jordan Bohannon (4.8 apg) and the Hawkeyes have L4 of 5 SU and ATS, only winning and covering ATS against Illinois (10-9 SU, 7-7-1 ATS). In in last game on Wednesday night at Rutgers, Iowa was beaten 80-64, losing ATS as small 1-point Road chalks as the Hawkeyes played their 7th straight Over and 9th in the L10 games. In the Loss, HC McCaffrey employed a Starting 5 of Nicholas Baer (11 points), Tyler Cook (10 points), Luka Garza (8 points), Jordan Bohannon (23 points) and Isaiah Moss (2 points) and Iowa shot a poor 39.3% from the floor (24-61) and had 17 TOs in Piscataway, NJ in a game that went Over by just 1½ points (142½). So we have a collision here of one team losing and playing Overs against another on a 14-game jelly roll and playing Unders, so something’s gotta give, right?

Looking at some select and relevant Trends, we see that Iowa is 1-6-1 ATS its L8 against the Big Ten and 1-4 SU/ATS its L5 overall but, as mentioned, the Hawkeyes are 7-1 ATS the L8 in this series at Home at Carver-Hawkeye Arena, and with nothing to lose here and The Hawks Nest buzzing, this could be possibly a tough spot for Purdue...for awhile maybe if Iowa has a decent first 30 minutes. As mentioned, the Over is 7-0 the L7 Iowa games, 4-0 the L4 at Home, 5-0 the L5 vs Big Ten foes but the Under is 4-1 the L5 Hawkeyes games played on Saturday. And expect some extra emotion in the building as well as some extra effort from hosts Iowa who will respectfully be honoring former player Chris Street who was killed in a tragic car accident 25 years ago on Jan. 19, 1993, with many of Street’s former Coaches and Teammates expected to be there in attendance at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

Emotional Factor, Nothing-to-Lose Mentality, Series Trends All Pointing to Backing Hosts Iowa, But...

The Home team is 13-3 the L16 meetings in this series and that’s a powerful Trend, but this Purdue squad is much better than in those past season with guys like Haas (61.2% FG), Dakota Mathias (4.6 apg) and Matt Haarms (2.8 bpg) all playing their roles and being instrumental in many a Boilermakers run. Could Purdue (84.6-62.1) go unbeaten in conference? So far, so good. But this one at Iowa (81.0-76.4) could really be a test with Rebounding a potential problem (Iowa #40 Rebounding) for the visitors should the Boilermakers end up being cold from the Field and 3-Pointland. The Over is 4-1 the L5 meetings between these two in Iowa City and there should be a brisk Pace throughout with the Hawkeyes running-and-gunning with a careless attitude with March Madness something that will have to wait until another season. A 20-4 type run by Purdue in the 2nd Half could do in the hosts in here on Saturday.
