The Butler Bulldogs are always a threat to take down any team in college basketball and tonight they have a huge test as they square off against the defending champion Villanova Wildcats. Butler is a double digit dog. Can the Bulldogs pull off another upset?

  #22 Butler vs #2 Villanova

Revenge Factor?

College Basetball hasn't seen a team with such steam as they have with the Wildcats since the Duke Blue Devils off over 2 decades ago than won back to back championships.

Villanova has wins to their credit over Purdue, Notre Dame, Xavier (twice), and Virginia. The one team that I didn't mention was the Butler Bulldogs as Butler defeated Villanova earlier in the season, 66-58. Even though Villanova will have revenge on their mind, this game won't be personal as they are the defending national champs and they want another chance to reach the mountain top and that comes with winning each game listed on their schedule.

The Giant Killer

For Butler, the goal is to get back the mindset that they possessed earlier in the season when they were knocking off AP Top 25 teams left and right. Recently, they've had a more difficult time as the season can become a grind. After losing 3 of 4 games to teams such as Creighton and even Georgetown, Butler has come back strong with 2 consecutive victories against St. John's and DePaul. While these two teams aren't really winning teams overall, this provides Butler with momentum as they come into tonight's big matchup.

Butler is a team that's beaten Villanova, Arizona, Cincinnati, Indiana, and Xavier. This is certainly a winnable game and as I stated earlier, 10 points is a lot for Villanova to lay against a giant killer such as the Bulldogs.

Regaining the Touch

For Butler to have a legitimate chance of winning this game, leading scorer, Kelan Martin, need's to have a good game. Martin has been shooting quite poorly lately. He's was a combined 8 of 25 from the floor against Providence, Marquette, and St. John's, but is averaging 16.5 points and 7 rebounds per game in his last 2 games. Those games resulted in victories and that tells the story.

One player that we know will come to play is senior Josh Hart. Hart leads Villanova with 18.8 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 1.6 steals per game. This is a two-way player that we'll see at the next level and the Wildcats can count on for a consistent strong effort every game. Butler will have their hands full with Hart.

Normally, I would jump on the 10 points, but I think Villanova is the team with momentum here and look for the Wildcats to make a statement.
